So I see where are you coming from. What happens to the majority local Singaporeans ???Originally posted by Gazelle:I am sure you are aware the Singapore government is putting in alot of effort to boost tourism in Singapore and we are going to have F1, Universal Studio, Casino and a big MICE industry. So it is abnormal for you to see more foreigners in Singapore?
It is like when you visit a zoo and will you be surprise to see elephant and lions in the cage?

To TS..... if you think S'porean will became the minority in S'pore itself..... please help by marrying early and have tons of children..... because if you only complaint and don't help with the birth rate..... nothing could be done.

In my neighbourhood there are black Africans. From the wooden plaque at their door, I guess they are Christian workers. Good choice of comming to Singapore instead of Afganistan.Originally posted by In_Between_Days:Yup i notice alotta ang mohs nowadays...especially in the neighbourhood areas...

I had a small Operation at AH last year...... it cost me $5000 +. If I'm not a S'porean..... the same Operation would cost $11000 +. Everytime i go for post Operation checkup, my bills will comes up to $52+...... on the bill itself, it is listed that if I'm not subsidised..... the bill will be $90+.Originally posted by rooki:I've always wondered why the government does not reduce the benefits from Singaporeans and give them to better-qualified foreigners.
Eg: Free healthcare for talented foreigners, while Singaporeans have to pay 'market rates' to ensure that these healthcare organisations turn a profit.
Since the worth of citizens/PRs/foreigners to Singapore is measured almost solely by their economic contributions, why not give those perks and benefits to where they are well and truly deserved?
This National Day is a great opportunity to celebrate the contributions made by the hardworking/talented foreigners in our midst, am I right Gazelle? Better than the closed-minded, whiny Singaporeans now, aren't they?
Originally posted by hloc:I am suggesting that the subsidies for Singaporeans, which you have so clearly shown, be given to foreigners instead who are much more talented and hardworking and who don't whine as much as Singaporeans.

So forgive me if I don't agree with you that WE as S'porean ain't getting subsidised for good medical treatment. Common sense would have told you that 'Cheap' doesn't always means good. As any operation means putting my life at risk..... i very much prefer to pay more to ensure my own safety..... the last thing i want is to have a half-A*s operation which scars my body and life.
If you don't believe me..... try marrying a foregin wife and have a child at the local hospital without her having PR....... you will see your bills goes up 3 times. Thats what nearly happened to some of my friends at work...... [/b]
Err.... and how is that suppose to stop S'porean from whining......Originally posted by rooki:I am suggesting that the subsidies for Singaporeans, which you have so clearly shown, be given to foreigners instead who are much more talented and hardworking and who don't whine as much as Singaporeans.
Well, maybe these ARE Sningapreans, New ones.Originally posted by Seven_Dragon:Singapore national day is coming...
But i find that there are less and less singaporean on the street...
Indian national, prc national, ang mo, other nationalities population are getting more and more...
Similar trend can be seen in my work place and in some school (Nus, Ntu)...
1) What's happening to singaporean?
2) Where are they?
3) Are we becoming minority soon?
4) Is our national identity in crisis now?
5) Are we still able to celebrate national day in future or it's just another holiday for some people to go overseas and enjoy long weekend?
Haiz...
Does the much more talented and hardworking foreigner refer to yourself?Originally posted by rooki:I am suggesting that the subsidies for Singaporeans, which you have so clearly shown, be given to foreigners instead who are much more talented and hardworking and who don't whine as much as Singaporeans.
