I've always wondered why the government does not reduce the benefits from Singaporeans and give them to better-qualified foreigners.
Eg: Free healthcare for talented foreigners, while Singaporeans have to pay 'market rates' to ensure that these healthcare organisations turn a profit.
Since the worth of citizens/PRs/foreigners to Singapore is measured almost solely by their economic contributions, why not give those perks and benefits to where they are well and truly deserved?
This National Day is a great opportunity to celebrate the contributions made by the hardworking/talented foreigners in our midst, am I right Gazelle? Better than the closed-minded, whiny Singaporeans now, aren't they? -

I had a small Operation at AH last year...... it cost me $5000 +. If I'm not a S'porean..... the same Operation would cost $11000 +. So forgive me if I don't agree with you that WE as S'porean ain't getting subsidised for good medical treatment. Common sense would have told you that 'Cheap' doesn't always means good. As any operation means putting my life at risk..... i very much prefer to pay more to ensure my own safety..... the last thing i want is to have a half-A*s operation which scars my body and life.
If you don't believe me..... try marrying a foregin wife and have a child at the local hospital without her having PR....... you will see your bills goes up 3 times. Thats what nearly happened to some of my friends at work...... -

Yup, I think there may be a change in the ratio of the different races since new immigrants can be any race and singapore trying hard to attract new immigrants means that each new immigrant is highly welcomed and since singapore need not be majorly chinese, race ratio can indeed change Depending very much on which race applied the most & got 'licensed' to be new immigrant. I see this happening in as short as 10 years time.
Many able Singaporeans decided to move to other countries either to work, retire or migrate.
Many Sngaporeans are UNABLE / inCapable of leaving. For example: Convicted criminals. Those on parole. Those who lost their passport > 2 times.
And the convicted and released ex-offenders also pose a social liability and stuck in singapore. With more living older, more ex-offenders remain in singapre, cumulated. Also incapable of leaving are those who do not have the adaptation ability to live overseas. Those who have no marketable values. Those who are ill, sick, disabled, married and cannot bear to leave friends and family. Those who think and believe that a person born in place A has to only live in place A for whole life. Those who do not believe in Migration.
So, will the racial fabric change color?
Some from the internet squad also encourage those forummers who gave dissentign voices to leave. Since they save on effort in thinking how to write to counter those complains, dissenting voices and disapprovals. They are tasked to counter and 'explain' and persuade these to think in the same way as they do. The feel Dr Feel Good kind of way. To these ghosts, everyone should act, think, believe the same. Homogenous. Kuai Kuai. No objection. No obstruction. No anti.
We can only wait for the kicking of the bucket. There is no other way.

are these FT going to stay, are they integrating and growing with the society they have adopted or bringing their previous habits from their countries. Are these people providing and contributing to this "new home" or stripping the country bare like locust? If Bill Gates, Zhu Rong Ji, or quality foreigners come to singapore to grow with us and contribute, no local will make issue. However, what I guess the local feel is that more often we are getting a locusts invasion...

Many of us including me have called ourselves ex-Sillyporeans and left...nothing wrong with those who stayed behind because they love Sillypore...likewise Sillypore is welcoming people from India, China, Bangladesh, Vietnam to come and work here...better yet if they are highly educated and got lots of $$$, pink IC straight away...
The sooner Sillyporeans accept this fact the better.....

It's a matter of time that they realize that they are being exploited for single-minded economic development that will never benefit them.
As for my suggestion to transfer privileges from citizens to foreigners, that is a decidedly absurd proposition, but made real by taking the whole 'foreign talent' policy to its logical conclusion.
Similarly the replacement of government and civil servants by FTs. It sounds ridiculous, but that is exactly what you get when you push hardcore meritocracy to its extreme. Why hire a Singaporean when a foreigner can do the job even better, and cheaper to boot? -
Put it simply,
why hire a singaporean when anyone from any other country who gotten PR can also become a citizen?
to get PR, have a skill and apply , can get in very short time. World record.
How difficult to get citizenship after getting the PR?
But after they get citizenship, they will also be in the same shoe.
This is after they renounced their motherland citizenship. -
Indeed, when a FT become PR and later Citizenship, they have the same fate as us. They will kick out by other cheaper, talent foreign worker. Vicious cycle......During that time, they will start to make noise.
