22 companies pledge to implement policies to hire older work

SINGAPORE : Twenty-two companies have said 'yes' to continue hiring older workers beyond the age of 62.
They were the first to do so after the Workforce Development Agency (WDA) enhanced the ADVANTAGE! Scheme this June.
This means that 235 older workers will be hired, and 82 others re-employed when they turn 62.
This update was given by Manpower Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen at his ministry's National Day Observance Day Ceremony on Tuesday.
He said as Singapore's economy continues to perform well, efforts to press on with economic restructuring must continue.
The labour market will tighten and there will be a shortage of skilled manpower globally.
This is where mature workers come in as a valuable source of manpower.
That's why the government came up with the ADVANTAGE! Scheme - giving organisations funding to help them increase the employability of older workers.
"Basically it means that at age of 62, both employer and employee can find ways to help employees stay within the company but it may not necessarily be the same job," said the Manpower Minister.
"I'm happy to announce that the ADVANTAGE! Scheme has expanded and more companies are coming on board, thus far about 20 odd companies. This idea of re-employment legislation is taking root and will expand it further as we work with other large organisations such as Singapore Manufacturers Federation, SCCCI and various business associations to ramp up these programmes," he added. - CNA /ls

Pledge - what does that mean? What is meant when a company says they pledge to implement policies to hire older worker?
What is the timeline? un-stated? That could mean 100 years time or when that company fortunate enough to experience labor shortage due to a boom or super high growth?
When labor shortage, of course will hire any age lah. -
There must be hundreds of thousands of people over 40 years old out there. After so many years, MOM only managed to convince 22 small companies to hire them. How many workers can they absorb? This seems like a half hearted effort !
Older workers possess something which is prized by employers: knowledge and experience.
They understand what it takes to get the job done.
The younger workers may not have the right skills to replace them. Talking about salaries base on performance. It is precisely the maturing workers that have this advantage but yet they are biased because of their age.
Those above forty has another reason which the employer will welcome: they are no longer liable for NS and thus ensure that operations are not disrupted.
But their futile search for jogs have made many to become discouraged and dropped out of the labor force, which they canÂ’t afford to. They have to take care of their aging parents and worry about how to take care of themselves when the time comes.
Why canÂ’t the govt take the lead to tap into the older but mature workforce for the public sector first in order to spur the private sector to follow instead of just talking the talk,
Is the govt afraid that the maturing workforce will outperform the elites and thus overturn itÂ’s elitism theory? -
The article is talking about hiring worker above 62 years old, not sure why are you talking about those above 40?

1. There is no timeline when to achieve this
2. The kind of job / salary offered. Can be toilet cleaner? You wanna? at least
got job huh.
3. Help Residents or Citizens?
I also pledge that I will donate to charity a lot lot money. When ? I cannot say. -

came across they employed aunties n uncles at popular local coffee chain , at t
times they chit chat away (like they all whole gang own the place ) without regards to provide business n service to customers-- becos they warrant they r lao jiao -
