Advice on what as united people we should expect of govt.

ADVICE ON WHAT AS UNITED PEOPLE WE SHOULD EXPECT OF GOVERNMENT
We the citizens have often been subjected to all sorts of propaganda praising the government for some policies and unthinkingly accepted them as truths.
We have achieved some initial success as a nation there is no doubt about this.
However as a people, we have not made much progress since the 1980s. Many problems have been created by wrongful policies calculated to benefit only the ruling elites and the rich in our society.
People have failed to stand up to the government and asked as a united people for the government to govern the country with objectivity and accountability, Instead they often quietly accepted its propaganda as dished out through its controlled press and media.
Only when people are of quality and able to reason what is wrong from what is self-interest or self-glorification by the part of the regime will they be taken seriously.
People must create the necessary conditions by strongly and objectively giving their views and make themselves heard without fear if they want to change the current closed door system.
It is critical that people must create this new political sphere of independence so that they can truly free themselves of indoctrination, top-down governance to suit the private agenda of the current ruling elites.
Try to understand this current political sphere is not healthy for onward progress of the nation instead of uttering only government propaganda or falling for its selective comparison always with worse conditions in other country like posted above.
So do think clearly as a citizen or people to uphold values and goodness for all or the majority of citizens currently suffering from dropping income and prospects due to wrongful policies.
It is your future and surely you donÂ’t want a future built on craps or propaganda but solid foundation with participation by citizens. -

As you can see in the Speaker Corner..... you can find Anti, Pro and people who judge each topics by their own merit. That... is already 3 type of ppl......

The problem with Singaporeans is though they grumble and are unhappy about the gahmen, most of them just complain and don't believe in seriously making known their grievances to the appropriate channels. They site reason that if they do so they will be put to jail.
I see that you are different and really have a genuine heart for the good progress of Singapore. You have my respect.

Unfortunately, there are far too many compliant citizens. In general, they are fearful of the gahmen and basically singaporeans are timid to voice out. When they see and hear people voicing out, they give negative feedback about these people. Day in day out they complain complain and refuse and fearful to do anything constructive for their good. As bear wisely said, we do not even know what to be united for. Therefore we must put up a good plan in a simple manner to identify what they want and commit them to accept change with a practical alternative to existing top-down autocracy.Originally posted by hloc:Well said

So New Practical Implementation Leaders must be found who could unite the people with not only visions but true and objective representation of their desires and needs for change in sequence of committed project management activities like: "Outline, Schemes, Details, Final and Process".
We need objectives and directions to be drawn up on a front-end agenda but we still need implementation processes to be put up and accepted for all to be committed to their implementation.
A group of citizens must eventually be found to keep working on such objective-processing program till people can see real and concrete program being implemented then they could accept them as viable.
Where there is a will there is a way. Only determined optimists are qualified to be involved in such change. -

How can we practise democracy if we cannot be reasonable assured that we will not be prosecuted. -

We are now not only the ones capable of telling the truths and exposing lies, we are even capable of spelling out programs for change for the moment. If sufficient people of the same passion to change come forward, we can be sure we will become a force to be counted to lead the change.
Such people are not many. But we could work towards bringing them together and support one another here. -
To speak to a large group of people in public, need to register like Hong Lim thingie.
Like this, no one or rarely anyone speaks to the people to unite the people. Except of course our champions, they always speak to the people.
How to unite the people if no one speaks?
Whatever we have to speak about just hush hush only.
Forums allow to reach people.
But only a few compared to the entire population.
Also, forums not advertised to let people know what forums exist.
If people know about a forum, they dare not talk openly about it also.
Yes, I agree singaporeans in general are not united until money is involved or goodie is up for grabs.
