I agree with the fact that there ARE many more HOMELESS & BEGGARS, even in 1st World Countires.Originally posted by Mat Toro:there are destitutes in any country, have you people traveled overseas? So many homeless in London, Seoul, Paris and New York. So many beggars in China and India. I think these countries need to learn from Singapore.

U misunderstood.....Originally posted by Mat Toro:you see the problem here?
When you fellas talk about ministers salary, you want to compare with other countries. When you talk about destitutes and homeless, you say don't compare.
How do u know they prefer to beg? Please give real examples.Originally posted by Mat Toro:These people are destitute by choice. Its not the govt's fault. There are homes to house these people but they prefer to beg on the streets.
Ok..... I think it time to take your medication.....Originally posted by Mat Toro:These people are destitute by choice. Its not the govt's fault. There are homes to house these people but they prefer to beg on the streets.
Not that we hate them for supporting the Government, but you've seen some of the presumptious post by people like Mat.Originally posted by hloc:Ok..... I think it time to take your medication.....
And I'm sure you prefer to Beg too.....
PS..... now I know why some of the 'Anti-Govt' Camp hate those 'Pro-Govt' Camp so much.....![]()
Point taken.....Originally posted by bigmouthjoe:Not that we hate them for supporting the Government, but you've seen some of the presumptious post by people like Mat.
Some 'pro-govt' camp do bring up good points, but Mat... neh.
In Germany, when you are unemployed, (including to the state of being homeless), you get 300 euros from the government a month. The same goes for other European countries you have mentioned.Originally posted by Mat Toro:there are destitutes in any country, have you people traveled overseas? You have a warped mentality. That's the problem and hence you cannot comprehend simple statements.Originally posted by Mat Toro:you see the problem here?

I say lets set one standard and compare everything.

Teaching people to depend on themselves, thats really the most humane thing to do. You need to look at the big picture and realise that.
In Singapore, if you are unemployed, including the state of being homeless, it's because you need to upgrade yourself. It's your own responsibility; the government will only give you money near election times.
They are socialistic, thats why they ended up with low wages and high unemployment today.
China and India are not first world countries, and we do not need to compare them to Singapore.
Not many homeless in Singapore. they are homeless by choice, not the govt's fault because govt do provide shelter for these people.
There are just so many homeless people around in Singapore. Why you do not see them on the streets? They got a roof! Big table tennis table as free Queen Size bed with a nice roof in HDBs, rubbish chute covered by hedges on the outside as a big bedroom, with many clothes hanging outside to sun and dry.
Its true. Check with MCDS or your neighbourhood police post. They do run shelters for the destitute but these are not publicised. I know because I have helped these people before, you didn't, thats why you don't know. all you know is to complain complain, blame and blame. Useless fella.
When you want to state your point, do raise some facts to support it. Blindly talking about it is useless.
Many chose to be unemployed because the benefits are very good. Umemployment is a choice by many. This is told to me by Germans. One of them is a person ready to retire soon, working in a university where they do track unemployment rates.Originally posted by Mat Toro:Thats why unemployment and taxes are so high in Germany.
You want to pay high taxes or have no jobs?
Ok lor. European countries are not being humane by 'teaching' people to depend on themselves. And when you need help, you have no one to turn to.Originally posted by Mat Toro:Teaching people to depend on themselves, thats really the most humane thing to do. I challenge you to the statement of being homeless by choice.Originally posted by Mat Toro:Not many homeless in Singapore. they are homeless by choice, not the govt's fault because govt do provide shelter for these people.
I know because I have personally travelled Europe and many things do enter my eyes. I have seen enough of homeless hiding here and there in Singapore. Singapore do provide free shelters, within HDBs, within rubbish dumps, etc etc, where the homeless now hide. Have you open your eyes when you walk around? Is there a need for us to bring you to the 'homeless' of Singapore for an interview?Originally posted by Mat Toro:Its true. Check with MCDS or your neighbourhood police post. I agree. I'm useless. I never say I wasn't.Originally posted by Mat Toro:Useless fella.
Aiyah, just ignore the troll unless you want to be banned along with him.Originally posted by Rock^Star:And where may these shelters be located? MCYS only provides on a temp basis.
You sure you do community work?

Then let me be banned. Trolls they may be, still, they must be put in their place.Originally posted by iveco:Aiyah, just ignore the troll unless you want to be banned along with him.![]()
there are rental flats actually for the poor which are heavily subsidized but i heard that the gross income must fall below $700 in order for the approval to be granted, a room costs $70 per month.....Originally posted by Mat Toro:These people are destitute by choice.
