there are destitutes in any country, have you people traveled overseas? So many homeless in London, Seoul, Paris and New York. So many beggars in China and India. I think these countries need to learn from Singapore.

The only thing 1st World Countires could possibly learn from us, is how we 'COVE UP' the fact that we too have HOMELESS & BEGGARS.... by choice or not by choice doesn't matters.

Yes.... it is ok to compare.
But does it means it is OK to have a destitutue problem in S'pore just because another Country have it
If other Countries have a high Jobless rate.... is it ok for S'pore to have one too
What would makes S'pore a better Country than others is by finding ways to solve such problems - destitutue, jobless rate, rising cost.... etc - while others are unable to do so....
For your info..... I don't give 2 Sh*t about the ministers salary..... better we pay them above the table.... than under it. -
These people are destitute by choice. Its not the govt's fault. There are homes to house these people but they prefer to beg on the streets.

In Germany, when you are unemployed, (including to the state of being homeless), you get 300 euros from the government a month. In Singapore, if you are unemployed, including the state of being homeless, it's because you need to upgrade yourself. It's your own responsibility; the government will only give you money near election times.
China and India are not first world countries, and we do not need to compare them to Singapore.
There are just so many homeless people around in Singapore. Why you do not see them on the streets? They got a roof! Big table tennis table as free Queen Size bed with a nice roof in HDBs, rubbish chute covered by hedges on the outside as a big bedroom, with many clothes hanging outside to sun and dry.
When you want to state your point, do raise some facts to support it. Blindly talking about it is useless. -

Singapore government do provide relatively cheap healthcare though... And our streets are clean enough to sleep

Its true. Check with MCDS or your neighbourhood police post. They do run shelters for the destitute but these are not publicised. I know because I have helped these people before, you didn't, thats why you don't know. all you know is to complain complain, blame and blame. Useless fella.

There are destitutes, but in S'pore, they oredi learn how to hide....If anyone watch "Get Real" in channel Newsasia, they do show some people still sleeping on the street. The host even follow them and sleep on the street with them to experience. As it telecast quite long ago, so can't remember much.

Many chose to be unemployed because the benefits are very good. Umemployment is a choice by many. This is told to me by Germans. High taxes? I don't mind if my salaries was as high as theirs. Do you know that even with their high GST, quite a substantial amount of their basic goods are still around the same price as in Singapore, if not cheaper, after considering the exchange rates?

I know because I have personally travelled Europe and many things do enter my eyes. I have seen enough of homeless hiding here and there in Singapore. Singapore do provide free shelters, within HDBs, within rubbish dumps, etc etc, where the homeless now hide. Have you open your eyes when you walk around?
