but i am just highlighting People has to help themselves in a bigger way which address the fundamental cause of the issue, and at the same time, pleases the economic giant machine/computer. (win-win)
Bigger way, i mean. No point spending 100% of your time a week with charity for years, to give tuition to help the needy students, but the economic giant machine/computer keeps munching away the nutrients.
We dug a grave for ourselves may years ago during the elections, and we still think the high salaries are becos we are the paymasters.

Senior Minister – S$3,043,300

Minister and Senior Perm Sec – S$1,593,500
Let's suppose with have 1 of each of the above in our parliament (I dunno how many perm sec we have)

Member of Parliament – S$216,300
Total per year will be S$33.5 million a year, excluding year end bonuses, medical benefits, securities costs, etc etc... It's a conservative estimate...
So yep, government do not have a money problem. -
