I agree that there's a good side to the government. Some have proven themselves very well, but not all.
And... doesn't the opposition has a good side too?
When there comes a day that PAP has < 2/3 majority in the parliament, let's see if they will still be able to push forward with even more GST/minister pay hikes.
I wonder how PAP will fare the day LKY starts failing.... By then, most of the pre-80ers voters would not be here already...
How transparent you want the government to be.
PM:
We lost billions more than we revealed in the Shin Corp deal, so we ned to raise the GST to recover your CPF monies.Do you expect any leader in the world to say such things.
When fighting an opponent, will you give the opponent a better chance to fight you?
I don't like this government too, because it is soul-lessly efficient.
You can't demonstrate/protest unless you are allowed to. Like during the IMF conference. Ha Ha what a laugh that was.
What I don't like about the government is it paranoia, that law and order will collapse if the people are allowed dancing in the streets, or conduct an open rally in places like Raffles Place or Orchard Road. Of courses there are licences to apply. They are like gun licences. You can apply but...
Those may seem extraneous, : Does it really bother me that I am not allowed to speak in public without a licence? Frankly no. But I am saddened to know that I need to be jobless, penniless, without a handphone, living in a rented one room flat without aircon, before I would be eligible for welfare aid.
What I would like is for the government to have a change of heart. And not a change of government.
Until then I
choose not to nit pick, and endeavour to live life as best I can given the circumstances.
