Anybody has ever heard of any particular incidents of military clashes relating to Singapore? I mean, if its classified, please by all means DON'T post here. =)
Anywayz, there was word flying about that a Russian sub was caught snooping around in our ports once. It wasn't surfaced or anything, just running around at periscope depth. That incident supposedly prompted the quick purchase of Superpumas and MPAs.

What's Russia doing in our neighbourhood???

Aeroflot reported had been threatened with a ban from Singapore during the 70s or 80s because there was at least one incident of its jetliners straying too far commercial routs and too close military bases over Singapore, for pretty obvious reasons.
Don't know when the sub incident was, but if its during the Cold War then I'm not surprised, since we've always backed their Cold War rival.

technically speaking, we were neutral...we traded with both sides for one thing...but like Viper said, i'm not surprised...these guys even spy on the allies...

Spying on Allies is common. Sometimes, its better for you to assess the strength of yourself, rather than believing what they say.

how bout the one during our national day of 1995 when not one but 2 armed forces of our neighbours held a huge combined military exercise just ten kliks off our coast involving naval fleets of both nations involved and commandos? it occurred at exactly when we were doing our natonal day parade and ten kliks off our coast meant right at the limit of international waters, ie, the closest they can legally come without invoking war as stated in geneva convention. they testing water maybe?

They wanted to give an air combat demonstration instead of the usual fly pass. Unfortunately, the probing aircraft crashed due to mysterious reason. No casualties on our side.

LOL! I was just kidding. I fished something like this out from a joke. Supposedly a russian transmission was picked up, "US Submarine mysteriously sunk, no casualties on our side."
