I think it's not about debts, everybody has debts. You buy a house, you buy a car, you have to take a loan from the bank.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:but if they fall sick and lose their jobs, medical care is free under the NHS...
so we have an army of sickly unemployed British youths lor.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:but if they fall sick and lose their jobs, medical care is free under the NHS...
NHS is not free. The working adults are paying for them through their salaries. Read above lar. Cannot make the connection?Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:and the do not need to worry about their parents falling sick ... and bankrupt them... because NHS is free...
We are talking about youth here.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:but if they fall sick and lose their jobs, medical care is free under the NHS...
I believe the Avg waiting time for Ops under NHS is 1yr to 2 yr.... thats why the British Govt send very ill citizen to French Hospital using tax-payer money. The NHS is free....... but you are unlikely to live through the waiting part.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:and the do not need to worry about their parents falling sick ... and bankrupt them... because NHS is free...
an average married singaporean graduate would fully pay up his HDB flat in less than 10 years dragg.Originally posted by dragg:majority, if not all, of singaporeans who own a property or car are in debt too.
provided nothing happens along the wayOriginally posted by Daddy!!:an average married singaporean graduate would fully pay up his HDB flat in less than 10 years dragg.
better than being condemned right from the start like a British youth.Originally posted by de_middle:provided nothing happens along the way![]()
It is not wrong to be in debt. It all depends on what debt you are talkin about. I own my HDB..... a house which I need. Therefore this is a 'good' debt.Originally posted by dragg:majority, if not all, of singaporeans who own a property or car are in debt too.
hahaha.... who could guarantee thatOriginally posted by de_middle:provided nothing happens along the way![]()
Originally posted by hloc:I agree totally with you. Imagine Singapore without HDB and all private condos are at current lofty price. A young graduate will have to loan up to his neck just to live somewhere, this is the situation for a British graduate now. In addition, he has to pay for the cost of living which includes paying for Andrew Yap's so called free NHS and others' pensions.

But if I keep spenting on stuff like food, drinks, cars, gals/guys... etc, and billing everything on my Credit Card..... then whos to blame.
Ask yourself..... do you really really need the thing you planned to buy/get/loanCould you really afford it to begin with
Did you plan your buget before taking the loan/payment (debt)....
There is NO WAY anyone is totally debt free.... we can only keep our debt in-check.... and not beyond our capablitily to repay.
that is something which dont apply to most of the SC sheep here because they are NATO, and being a NATO you dont get paid so you dont pay tax, and when you fall sick that is like 100% profit...hence to them, the more often they visit the hospital, the richer they get....Originally posted by Daddy!!:NHS is not free. So you want to hold a British passport to enjoy free NHS and make the young British adults to pay for your bills and then your pensions? The British youths will feel that you are sabotaging their future because they end up with credit card debts (read above, Andrew)
I think Singapore has adopted the right policy, if you are old, poor, useless and don't contribute anything to the economy.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:and the do not need to worry about their parents falling sick ... and bankrupt them... because NHS is free...
Are you sure someone living in Singapore doesn't pay tax?Originally posted by Gazelle:that is something which dont apply to most of the SC sheep here because they are NATO, and being a NATO you dont get paid so you dont pay tax, and when you fall sick that is like 100% profit...hence to them, the more often they visit the hospital, the richer they get....![]()

What the British government could do is to open up the flood gate for immigrants so that Singaporeans whi.te dic.k suckers can migrate to their England to share the burden of paying taxes to fund their social welfare system.Originally posted by Daddy!!:Now we know who pays for the social welfare system : the working population, starting from the young adults. In UK, the youths' future is at stake. A very high price to pay, a price which no country can afford, not even UK.
