Well, looking at the petition response, I have to think that only a few hundreds are against it while millions are FOR annuity ? What can be done?
This singapore phenomenon needs a thesis and investigative reporting to unearth the mentality of 1st world singapreans who are kiasi and kiasu and kia everything even their cars.

Your CPF money.
Many retirees want to do the things they could not do before retirement as they dun have the time nor savings to do so.
When retired, they actually have the money to realise their dreams, being high saver asians.
Some like to start some business with their years of experience and savings, much also stuck in cpf. By drawing bit by bit , little by little, their hardearned savings cannot be used for business investments!
Installments like 500/700 a month is also is not sufficient to do much except for daily things like taking the bus and maybe having a cup of kopi every day. Next time, I cannot guarantee this will be even sufficient for daily things like these if prices hike on a constant and regular basis, for so many items!
Thus, I feel that if I were to retire like this, not able to withdraw my money in cpf in large portions or completely, I could only retire and die never realising my dreams.
I hope the will of the people can bring about change and influence big decisions . If no one push for change, nothing will. Ghost and Air cannot help you right? only humans can help humans. and only humans can destroy humans.
