Actually, if they reduce road tax and COE by a large amount while increasing ERP, it's still ok. This way, you pay more when you use more... It's will be like decreasing income tax and increasing GST... you pay more when you have the ability and need to buy more...
Problem here is... GST increase without a decrease in income tax... ERP increase without much decrease in road tax / COE..., nor a decrease in public transport fees...
There's 1 thing I support about transport policies though... the increase in the number of MRTs (thanks to OTC for having pushed it forward last time)... MRTs do not clogged up the road, come at rather regular intervals, and are fast enough because they do not need to stop at traffic lights. Furthermore, underground stations serve as bomb shelters.
