Care to comment on my point of view hloc? Or am I just another world destroying ''armchair leader"?Originally posted by bangkokboy:Ah hloc, whoever mentioned such grand thoughts of changing the world? I really do not see how posting our VIEWS on how the annuity and various other silly government ideas can be VIEWED as changing the world?
Who was the one who mentioned that alternative views have the right to be posted in forums for open discussion? I really hope you were not the one, because you seem to be openly contradicting yourself if you really happened to be the one.
And who are you to pity all the youths in the world when you have barely stepped out of Singapore, all you did was take a short vacation I dare wager. All the mess in the world are not due to the work of ''arm chair leaders'' that I can assure you, or perhaps you can provide evidences that ''arm chair' leaders'' are the cause of the many problems that societies and humanity are facing?

I hope you do realise the foolishness of your ironic statements. First you criticise people for airing their views, next you mention that everyone here have a right to air their views.
You are not thick skin my friend, but you need to further question yourself what are you actually trying to tell us.

Everyone does have a Right to his/her Views.
And I didn't criticise people for airing their views..... I state that compare to some other Youth in other parts of the World, S'porean Youth is not having it BAD. And then ask those who disagree to show me they could do better by getting elected themselve.
The problem is with Arm Chair critics speaking as if they could solve the problem. They are giving people false hope... thats all. Unless they are willing to stand up and lead....... what will change![]()
Show me with action please. We already have enough broken promises from the GOVT.
Everytime I write here, it is to express my Views. In this case, I don't believe that the youth of S'pore is having it BAD..... But ppl here decided to make me a Pro-PAP example..... If they think they could change S'pore, then lead the way. If not...... then after all is said here, tomorr the GST, CPF, who govern.... etc... will still be the same.
Express your views by all means.

superpropap accuse me of not understanding him because he thinks that I haven't work for the Govt before. And have the guts to tell me to shut up. And then give the age old reason of ''Just in case no promotion'' for an excuse for voting PAP.Originally posted by bangkokboy:What prompted me to accuse you of criticising the views of others draws from your harsh worded reply to superpropap. He was only airing his disgust and yet you told him he was dumb enough to vote for the PAP based on what he had seen the PAP done IN THE PAST. I am actually quite disgusted by your statement.
http://sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=275451Originally posted by superpropapOMFG, they delayed all the promotions for all the specialist in SAF for a year! Meaning you need another additional year to climb up the ranks.
3SG - 2SG = current requirement + 1 additional year
2SG - 1SG = current requiremnet + 1 additional year
etc
WTF man! The government only think of themselves! Give themselves good pay and say all government sector must improve! BS man! Why officers not affected!!! WHY!!!
WTF they just want the money themselves!! Boooo to the government!! Selfish!!

This is quoted from superpropap own thread...... see anything hereHe is piss because his promotion is delay by 1 year. He voted for PAP thinking that he could get his promotion..... when he didn't get it, he lashes out.
Now if he had gotten his promotion.... do you think he wouldn't be singing another songHe did really paid for his own mistake. But I'm not feeling sorry for him

I admitted when I 1st started on this forum that all I want is to live my life. I don't want to get invol on any side. After all those PAP bashing speeches ever said here, did any member here ever done more than just fault finding
I may have only been to Holiday overseas..... but those child beggar in the steets of thailand or indonesia will still be there.
Whats so bad being a S'porean Youth.....
Most have the Lastest Gizmos like H/P or MP3s....
Most doen't have to be hungry anytime in their lives...
Some grown up having a maid to fetch for them. (while the maids themselve are also youth from other countries)
Most if not all will never be shot at by a gun while playing football (the UK thingy)
Most if not all will have a chance of an education with is base on their own capablitily to study.... not on race or class in society.
Again I ask whats so bad about being a S'porean youth
I don't think he was looking for anyone to comfort him. Urban legends exist for a reason, why do you think people still bring up the question of the serial numbers on voting tabs if they have no doubts on the validity of it? Surely it's because their doubts are still unresolved.Originally posted by hloc:http://sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=275451

No one have the ''gift of foresight''..... if I could see next weeks 4D number, Why the F would I still work But once any choice is made without first thinking CAREFULLY...... then it is YOUR OWN MISTAKE. I could comfort him... but would that solve anything

Seriously, if sharing the alternative views with other users is not considered an action I don't know what is. Like a movie critic, we can choose to heed or ignore his reviews, there is a CHOICE but at least we see and know another person's point of view. It makes us THINK.
I have nothing bad to conclude about the life of Singaporean youths, but the issue I have here is your comment on armchair critics. Are you telling all the movie critics in the world to start campaigning or protesting everytime there is a good/bad movie?
No. Their role is to inform and discuss, it's up to the reader to decide.

But I'm not sorry for the views I held. Like you said, I'm mainly sharing a ''alternative views''. A view that some might not share, but my own view anyway.

Thus please do refrain from urging others to ''take up arms'' when all they need to do is to ''press a button''.

Fallacy number 1 of P4P supporters here.
Everyone that makes their views heard in sgForums wants to be a politician.
These days, the P4P are clamping down on cyber alternative views so much, they have to resort to this argument and their so called golden statement.
"No Action, Talk Only"
In that case, they should change this to sgActions, instead of sgForums, else it is very misleading. Then change Speaker's Corner to Action Corner.
Forum: an assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest.
If one's policies are strong, it will not incur unhappiness amongst the populace. They should not fear discussion, unless the policies are flawed, then they will suppress discussion to prevent more people from knowing it.
Ignorance is Bliss.

Ah.... for this 'red part' I apologize without reserve.....
I also hate it when (human) keep telling us to revolt..... It seems that I have fallen into it myself.
I stand by my views that S'porean Youth is not having it Bad. But I apologize if anyone is hurt by my remark on getting elected. But just this part only.
And yes.... i still think we are just Arm Chair Warrior......

Think we also have to question the sanity of some who insist that, they are taking 3-4 millions in terms of salary, we should give them 3-4 billions in salary because they deserve it for the work they have done.Originally posted by Fingolfin_Noldor:Sometimes one has to wonder whether they are pro-PAP because they support the PAP, or because they are a bunch of frightened rabbits.
At least I don't worry about getting gunned down everyday. Personal safety seems to be taken for granted by the "pitiful" youths.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:Their parents used to spend ten/twenty years (like in most other countries) working in a decent job to get a private property right here in Singapore but you-know-who has pushed/allowed property prices to sky-rocket so that the youths now cannot do what their parents could do in Singapore.
They have to study so hard because the education system is not catered to teach them to think but to force them to keep as much information in their heads as possible (whatever for, when now you have google).
The are not taught to think because in a politically suppressed country and the "leaders" want to do what they like, for the people to have the ability to think, it is not good for the "leaders". The want sheep that follow and obey, not youths that can think skilfully.
As a result the youths do not learn good thinking skills and do not spend the years in school, developing good thinking skills.
Youths all over the world are idealistic and pursue their dreams but in Singapore, they have to worry about their bread and butter three meals a day concerns because everything has been priced so that they have no time to be idealistic and to chase their dreams.
Youths all over the world work hard so that they can travel and save up for a good life (or save up so that they have money to pursue their dreams) but in Singapore, they have barely enough to pay for the necessities in life because the necessities in life like housing, transport and medical are priced so high they have no choice but to work hard for necessities in life into their (now they are planning for Singaporeans to work into their eighties) old age.
In order to do that, make the youths work into their eighties, they make sure that prices go up more and more but salaries lag behind (using foreign talents to lower the wages).
Pity the Singapore youths.
This, I disagree....... I like to count my blessing. Whatever stress our youth is going through..... some other youth is also suffering from it.... around the World.Originally posted by bangkokboy:Yes I would not deny being an Armchair Warrior. Not that it's a bad thing I hope?
Neither am I questioning whether Singaporean youths are GENERALLY having a good life, cause most of our youths are having it good BUT it's wrong if we start comparing to non-privileged youths in third-world and developing nations like some of us are starting to do.
Cheers.
True we are indeed much more fortunate than many around the globeOriginally posted by hloc:This, I disagree....... I like to count my blessing. Whatever stress our youth is going through..... some other youth is also suffering from it.... around the World.
Non-privileged youths in third-world suffer from wars and famine.
First-world youth suffers from stress in a winner take all society..... u failed.... too bad for you.
To compare will remind those who thinks life is unfair... that some other isn't having a better day also. We could only shield the youth from the reality of life for so long..... then they will have to face it.
I think Daddy !! post on top of yours.... explain my feeling.Originally posted by bangkokboy:True we are indeed much more fortunate than many around the globe
But I think that Andrew was trying to point out that many of the ''problems'' faced by our youths are created by systems. And systems are created by bodies. And surely everyone knows who these bodies are.
