Not always the government's fault but because their policies have such wide ranging effects, if it is their fault, when it is their fault, we have to speak out against it.Originally posted by Daddy!!:to some prominent identities here in this forum, somehow along the way, whatever the topic, it is always the government's fault.

The simplicity and clarity may be busted if push comes to shove when any robust review is made to your stand.

Get back to the 'right side' before you lose your wool on your back.
Deserve to own freehold property? Are you delusional? How did you come to the conclusion that Singaporean youths deserve to own freehold property?Originally posted by Gazelle:Originally posted by Gazelle:
Singapore is only 42 years old, which generation of parents are you talking about ? Suppose if singaporeans should all deserve to own freehold private property and land, then where to you expect Singapore youth of today to be staying? floating in mid air?
Even if it is true that there are parents that will tell their children that, it justifies suppression of critical thinking skills of the youths in Singapore?Originally posted by Gazelle:I thought most parents will be telling their spoilt brat that in the olden days, they cant even afford to have basic education.

Our grandfather's and my father's generation were able to buy a landed property in the early 1950s - [in the city area] to late 1960s - [when places like Serangoon Gardens, Seletar Hills, Sembawang Hills Estate, Soochow Garden, Windsor and Adelphi Park, Thomson Hills] - at different times were sold from a minimum of $48,000 to $160,000 over a period from 1966 through 1976.Originally posted by Gazelle:

You seem to be stuck in your self-created confusion in comparing several generations of parenthood altogether. They have to study so hard because the education system is not catered to teach them to think but to force them to keep as much information in their heads as possible (whatever for, when now you have google).---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought most parents will be telling their spoilt brat that in the olden days, they cant even afford to have basic education.
Who do you think implemented the policy of ''Filling the Stomach, and dull the Mind'' to prevent an educated lot from interfering in the political ambitions of a young lawyer scrambling to be king of a molehill ?The are not taught to think because in a politically suppressed country and the "leaders" want to do what they like, for the people to have the ability to think, it is not good for the "leaders". Besides your flight into fantasy with your skills at sniffing at others, and burying your face into others' butts, have you proven yourself to be better than those who are least capable as ''computer and internet heroes'' ?As a result the youths do not learn good thinking skills and do not spend the years in school, developing good thinking skills.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would blame the youth for spending too much money and time on computer and games and thatÂ’s why all they are capable for doing is to become computer and internet heroes.
Speaking from your personal experience of being handicapped mentally from thinking beyond attention grabbing headlines ?Youths all over the world are idealistic and pursue their dreams but in Singapore, they have to worry about their bread and butter three meals a day concerns because everything has been priced so that they have no time to be idealistic and to chase their dreams.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Singapore youth are a bunch of spoilt bred or domestic kitten that are unable to hunt for food in the wild, and thatÂ’s why they are always expecting to be feed with a silver spoon
Are you sure that Singapore do not pay for such hard work behind the computer, or is this another mindless Gazelle charge ?Youths all over the world work hard so that they can travel and save up for a good life (or save up so that they have money to pursue their dreams) but in Singapore, they have barely enough to pay for the necessities in life because the necessities in life like housing, transport and medical are priced so high they have no choice but to work hard for necessities in life into their (now they are planning for Singaporeans to work into their eighties) old age.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Singapore youth are only capable of working behind their computer and providing lip services to the community. Unfortunately Singapore donÂ’t pay for such hard work.
Who do you think we should thank for a fact that fortunately in this Speakers' Corner - the larger participating population is different from a sheep in Gazelle skin ?In order to do that, make the youths work into their eighties, they make sure that prices go up more and more but salaries lag behind (using foreign talents to lower the wages).---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Singapore youth of today will die of hunger before their reach 60s because without their parents, they are nothing.
Pity the Singapore government.

D6 or not, my views are my own...... just like Gazelle's views is his own. U could agree or not agree to his views, but that doesn't make his views automaticly wrong or have 'less moral' than yours.

Very well said - dog eat dog world.
Unfortunately, some dogs are smarter, they will not eat you, but keep you on a tight leash so that you keep running in circles on a circular treadmill - that is linked to an electric dynamo.
While you sweat running on the circular threadmill, you are helping to run the dynamo, which will keep generating electricity for the aircon to keep their dog brains cool in a room temperature of 16 degree C.
They will feed you with scraps, and if you complain too much, you will lose the privilege of running on the threadmill, and they will lock you up in solitary confinement in the cage.
Living out of the cage is considered a privilege to all lesser animals.
You want to be a humanist human, they will bring other dogs who are trained and more willing to defend their common canine interests.
IF you believe that we are HUMANS, then all Humans should be given equal opportunities, if we do not wish to live in a dog-eat-dog environment, where the winner takes all.
[b]Why will you believe that discussion is useless ranting ?
During his time, was Socrates ranting in the many discussions of a New Political World Order ?
USA was not born out of an accident, but by debate between the fervent believers and the self-doubters.
The fervent believers of a Republic independent from the Rule of the British Crown had to debate endlessly for months, before being able to carry the day, and face the might of the British Imperial Military.
This forum has slowly but surely opened the eyes of many fence sitters, and serve a purpose in the development of poliitical awareness and activism.
First the mind is inspired to move, the fingers expressing the hearts and emotions within each of us in the expression of our feeling in prints.
Who knows where this will lead us ?
Surely, the doubters and the critics will be debunked some time into the future.

Look around us. The region. South east Asia. Which country do u tink is really democratic in nature? None, they have their menace (and so do spore ) well hidden behind the glamorous face of democracy.
I tend to held on the views of a sophist when it comes to governments of the world.
All govt who claim a natural right to rule are always disguising the fact that they rule in the interests of one particular group.
This also happen in the USA, just a matter of the degree they are in.
Since (in my opinion) no true democracy exists because majority of us continue our dog eat dog world mentality, I came to conclusion that I must learn how to protect my backside and to thrive in watever situation spore is in.
Yes, I am selfish because if I am not, I cant even protect my own family. So what is so useful about discussion when words alone can bring us no where and the things spoke here cant even help me to be in a better environment.
Words are cheap, the moment a new govt were to succeed , they will too implement policies that are to their favor.
I have lose faith in human race and some how I have a feeling that we are undergoing a next stage of evolution, whereby only those who exploits or know how to defend themselves cleverly can survive.
I donÂ’t know what is your definition of Youth? They are certainly not the people in the market looking for private property, doing what their parents could do. That public housing built on state land can be exorbitantly priced to this kind of level shows that they have a hidden agenda which is not articulated by the propaganda presses and it is up to us to expose it.
If you tell me that there are no consequences to pricing public housing built on public land at that level especially to the youths of the nation, that is simply delusional.
Obviously when the youths are forced to be robots for the industries by social engineering using the price mechanism as a main tool, their dreams must degrade in favour of the dreams of those manipulating them.
The puppet masters have no qualms using the pricing mechanism to suppress the youths because their own children are not affected since the have access to public funds and they have no qualms taking millions more on top of the millions that they already take annually.
