Fortunately, MAN was not made to be contented - if MAN was contented with whatever he has, he should have been happy just having discovered FIRE - why will he want to progress beyond the discovery of FIRE.
It was by playing with FIRE that he learn to use FIRE to his advantage and brought MANKIND beyond the stage when FIRE was first discovered.
The evolution of mankind has been based on the basis of dis-satisfaction with the status-quo, the desire for raising the quality of Life.
Even the MIW realise that instigating Singaporeans to seek out a higher quality of life is a double-edged swords that cuts both ways, it will require them to move Singaporeans away from the old PAPa's theory of ''Filling the Stomach, and Dulling the Brain''.
The brain of Singaporeans have been purposefully dulled for more then 42 years, and now the MIW is trying to wake everybody up.
Unfortunately, they will not let the window open completely to let the FREE sunlight in, they still will insist that we ''continue to burn the electrical light bulb'' so that they will still be able to control the master switch.
With sunlight they cannot control us. Whatever that is free, they have no control.

Very impressed.
I hope you will have an opportunity to play an even more important role in singapore society.
Andrew for Politics! yes!
I am not going to talk long stories. Just think of the difference in economics, the number and status of white collars workers back then and now and it's not difficult to understand why it so much easier for this group of people to be able to afford private properties than people now.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:and of course, you have no idea why it is a poor and inaccurate conclusion... hahaha such fallacy does not work in an open forum, my dear...
Everyone knows it is impossible for an engineer and teacher couple to pay off their mortgage for a Serangoon Gardens corner terrace.
From the time an engineer and teacher couple could it then to the time that the youths cannot now, it was the same people that made the policies.
You want to bury your head in the ground, that is you prerogative, my dear.![]()

It is most dishonorable for people to take the credit and never take the blame even when they are the ones that make the decisions.Originally posted by apples:I am not going to talk long stories. Also, it is an insult to pity youths for thinking they are lousy thinkers and do not have courage to stand up for their rights against the government! Have you worked with Singapore graduates and overseas graduates? I totally find that a number of our graduates can beat those chinese and Indian overseas masters. And kids now are much more outspoken to their parents than before. Do you think these same youths wouldn't dare to be more outspoken against the government?
I agree with you on first point.Originally posted by Gazelle:I think people like Leong Sze Hian has done an extremely good job in criticising the government's policy and we have seen many of his article published on on ST papers.
It believe it is natural for NATO to give excuses to be a NATO if not how can they survive in this forum.
You are a CROW discussing about the ugliness of the sparrows colour.Originally posted by maurizio13:I agree with you on first point.
As for you 2nd point, I don't see your articles being published in the ST. Does it mean you are also NATO complaining about other NATO???![]()

Stop using vulgarities, and further lose you standing in this forum.

Say your piece honestly, like you always do.
Just stick to that.

the response you get from the youths would be "Are you crazy?" what nonsense that it takes 50 to 60 years to own a home.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:Don't change the subject. I said, "Pity the Singapore Youths because in Singapore, it used to be that Singaporeans take 10-15 years to pay of their housing loans and a few years to pay off their car loans but now because of the policies set by dishonorable people for their own benefit, the youths have to take 50-60 years for the equivalent house and car and are charged a hand and a foot for medical services and that is "progress"!![]()

Who's dousing the fire here? We Singapore youths are so dispassionate about the country's affairs because we're not idiots and we don't savour being treated as such. We have our eyes, we have brains, we can see what's going on. The internet helps provide an alternate voice, keeps things in perspective. We don't need to be told what to think. As long as the only "choice" we're given is "you're either with us or against us", I think we youths will wisely continue to channel our "fire" elsewhere, in personal pursuits where we can make a difference, thank you very much.
