The threadstarter's meaningless taunt shows the shallowness of his mind. There will always be those 'spoilt' by a silver spoon and those who are born into a previleged life but forsake those benefits in return for a level playing field, making their own fortune without 'golden slippers'.
What point does this blanket statement put across? Is the threadstarter attempting to disassociate the younger generation by attempting to pin the blame of Singapore's recent boo-boos on this crop of youngsters?

I specifically mention 80s-90s is because during that time, Singapore was experiencing trememdous economic growth and jobless rate in Singapore is almost 0% and most parents are flooded with cash because of the property boom. I am born in 89 and damn feel damn lucky to be born at that time. I never told my parents to carry bag for me and they would need me to carry my own things too. Most of my friends that i know are similar to me, we do our own things, meet obstacles ourselves and try to improve. Not the perfect generation, but I feel sad for those born in mid/late 90s, some are so much pampered by parents, even have 'personal maids', what a shame not to develop their lives themselves.
Choosing the kids own paths; not a wise move. Let the kid choose what he needs; echos the upbringing of the parents. Not bending in to the children's requests all the time; lets him develop his natural capabilities.
