What happened in Bali has caused shockwave around the world. Many nations have condemmed the act even though some nations are saying that it is because of US policies that are causing these incident. Bullshit...... No amount of excuse can justify the killing of so many innocent lives. They are just plain murders even though some people called them terrorists.
Regardless of their religion, these people should be hunted down and made to pay for their action. I hope that all nations will put in a combined effort to do it. -
only if it is in their interest to do so... not everyone finds murder and bloodshed objectionable.

Let this blast be a very harsh warning to muslim states in the region. I remembered someone told me that the twin towers won't be a target, and gave me a few very good reasons. Well, Indonesia is a muslim country, and has a deep terrorism background. If it can happen there, it can happen anywhere now. If anyone says that they go after spots frequented by Americans, then KL is a pretty likely target, so is Sentosa. It is about time everyone woke up and stopped saying that "this can't be a target, that can't be a target".

The indonesian govt can no longer live in denial.
For months they have claimed that their country is not a safe haven for terrorists. Then when their neighbours provide evidence of certain ppl residing in indo, they claim that those select few have not broken any laws in the state and hence cannot be arrested.
Now that over 200 ppl are dead, they take off the mask and condemn terrorism...sadly to say it's a tad late for those pub-goers. And the majority weren't even locals.
The incompetence of the indo govt has been plain. They change presidents as frequently as soccer clubs change managers. None of them have really done much for the nation. And for some strange reason almost everyone of them (from habibie to good old abdul) has managed to criticise S'pore while in office. Sporadic fighting still takes place, muslim and christian extremists continue to lynch each other with impunity, high court Judges roped in for graft, mayors bribing for votes during elections.....the list goes longer then the guiness book of records.
After this latest bombings, i seriously doubt that anything significant will be accomplished. That's not to say that megawati isn't sitting down shaking her leg. But surrounded by an incapable cabinet, i wonder just how long it will be b4 their own ppl hurl themselves out of the doldrums. -
These bombing involved Bush & Osama & whoever are getting more n more senseless. Just how many lives are they gona pick to make them realize tt all are not worth. Maybe Bush & Osama & also Saddam can perish together... Probably they can meet in EITHER heaven or hell to resume their own war b/w the 3 of them.
*sighs* I never want to say silently of "my heart goes out to those" but today, I have to say it one more time... and I seriously hope this is the last of all.

I take pity for singapore having indonasia as a neighbour.This crisis has already causes so much death and causlties,instead of giving a serious thought on how to deal with this situation they are now trying to shifting responsible and some internal political struggle.

This is not entirely the indon govt's fault. If they could have prevented it from happening, I think they would. Lack of intelligence, as well as possibly the fact that whoever behind the bombing had friends in Law enforcements or ABRI as well.
The day before Bali's bombing, (which i did not realise until late 1 day after), I recall watching CNN, hearing the US Govt, that it believed a terrorist attack would occur in the coming week, cautioning its citizens. Just recalled this as I was on the MRT today, and realised that this bombing could be the attack which they warned about. Or is it? -

SEe my desciption of govt CORRUPTED AND INCOMPETENT IS UTTER making sense right if they are uncorrupted do u think those imposter of govt official can sneak into their intelligence gathering without being detected. If they are competent they would have prevent too much shifting cultization burning down patch of forest and got us into this hazy stuff.Har.......competent even ant are million times more competent than a good for nothing govt. -

Imagine the old man cleric - whom the ISD of Malaysia and Singapore had accused of being the head of JI - challenging the Indonesian authorities to arrest him under any newly written Internal Security Act (ISA) being drafted, and the consequences of his hundreds of thousands of Muslim brethen will show the Indonesian Government the power that he is wielding.
To catch a thief, we do not and cannot expect the thief to voluntarily produce or surrender evidence to incriminate himself.
While the whole world has heard and seen Al Qaeda - including the Arab world, this old man Indonesian cleric can claim in a BBC interview on Tuesday (Oct 15) that there is no such organisation as Al Qaeda, and that it is a fabrication of the US Government.
The whole world must be filled with idiots.
The Indonesian Government will be treated as the biggest idiot if no action is taken to lock up this crazy old man cleric. -
I think the Bali blast will affect the economy in the region. Less and less foreigner investors will dare to invest in SE.Asia.
Firstly Indonesia will be affect.again.
Malaysia and Singapore, been neighbors of Indonesia, will be greatly affected too.
Just is the economy is start to pick up slowly, there comes another blow.
I advise those who are thinking of changing job to hold their horses, especially those in the IT sector.
When Singapore GOV "condemn" the blast, I know it's looking for trouble from terrorists. But it has to do it so as to bring up confidence to the foreign investors...we are in a "lose lose" situation.
Guys.....be prepared for a violent and hard decade.

We should learn from the Israelis, especially from their secretive Shinbeth Secret Service.
Fight "fire with fire".
Plant agents inside these shady organisations, gather information, and make surgical incisive moves to cut the heart out of the beast.
Teach these bastards a lesson, by planting a bomb under their breakfast plate, or inside their mobile phone.
Some "black ops" mission should teach these 'wanna be' Islamic copy cats a lesson or two.
Unfortunately, the local Islamic copy cat fanatics are usually our local easily impressed Malay brethens. They are not as hardnosed and not as willing to die a fanatic's death as the Palestinians suffering under the Israelis and who have a political cause to die for their lost homeland.
Our ISD should be developed in sync with Malaysian ISD to plant 'insider agents' in the Islamic activist organisations throughout the region.
Only problem is who will ensure that the agent will not become a 'Double Agent'. -
I agree that more things can be done to prevent the Bali incident. No one expect that the bomb will go off in Bali as its population are mostly Hindus. One thing for sure, Indonesia is a much safer place when Suharto was around. At least everyone in Indonesia has food to eat and the number of deaths were low. Those issues about freedom are bullshit if you can't feed the population and the whole country is unstable. Not every country can use a particular model of democracy. If China was not a communist country, it will not be able to feed its population.
Anyway, nobody in Indonesia is strong enough to rein in the terrorist network so we will still see them floundering in the next few months on the Bali bomb blast. There are rumours that the next target is either in Singapore or Malaysia so we hope that our ISD is doing a good job preventing it.
Lastly, I hope that we can have a period of mouring by not posting anything on this fourm on 18th October 2002 from 0900hrs - 1300hrs (Singapore time) as a mark of respect for the victims of the Bali bomb blast. Please spread this around -
Planting agents is not an easy game. Getting them in is the easy part. Making sure they aren't killed or defect is the hard part. These terrorist organizations are experts at manipulating minds. How do we know for sure our agents will not succumb?

The single party PAP rule in Singapore will be enough an example.
Thankfully, the various successive US Governments formed by either the Democratic and Republican Parties will be more benevolent and more democratically patient to diverse and opposing opions than the PAP Government of Singapore.
The US political personalities are more thick skinned to insults and personal opinions, unlike our ultra-sensitive PAP leaders who will resort to bankrupt any Opposition that propound any views that may have the slightest hint of personal attacks.
Despite the USA being one of the most litigation prone countries in the world, surprisingly the high profile public personalities do not as frequently defend their personal reputations in ruinous bankruptcy proceedings towards the propounders of opposing views.
