The move aims to ensure PIs do not gather information or conduct surveillance which may threaten public interest or national security, Minister for Home Affairs Wong Kan Seng explained.

I think this thunder move from the Thunder party really got to prove something here, they are afraid that if one day some hardcore opposition power might use the PI to spy on their MP and expose to the world of their dirty doing, which will threaten their power to rule Singapore.
Please take note that, by implementing this kind of lame law, no one will ever dare to spy on the 'Thunder' if they really did some funny things.Take for example NKF saga.
I think this is a really very smart move from the 'Thunder Gang'!

It makes no sense for the PAP supporters to support this bill because it doesn't cover their ass. Just too bad. -

It is obvious they are abusing their power to come out with the above. Well, it is more of threatening their own selfish interest and security rather than public interest or national security. Abuse of authority to protect their self interest. Vote them out. We can no longer tolerate such nonsense from these tyrants who care for themselves. -

May not be obvious previously to many (talking about the 66.6%), but i hope this latest absurd (craps reasoning) amendment will finally open up the eyes and minds of the 66.6%, there is and have always been a strong argument (by the other 33.4%)about whether these politicians from the ruling party are indeed men/women of high moral standard and integrity?
There you (66.6%) have it, for their own selfish interest, they are prepared to use their authority to ensure their million dollars salary are safe at the expense of us (inclusive of both 66.6% & 33.4%), the common men on the street.
Abuse of Authority? We just seen only the tip of the iceberg, be prepared for more nonsense and abuse of authority in the name of public or national interest/security by the MIW in parliament in the future.

If a politician has done good and for the interest of the people, nobody will want or dare to lay a hand on him/her.
Even if being attacked, there will be many citizens around to help him/her out without waiting for police to appear.
Furthermore, our MIW always like to say they have the majority support in Singapore, then I presumed there will always be at least 2 citizens (66.6%) around to help them out as against 1 attacker (33.4%).
Then why need to change this rule that law in order to protect politicians more?
