  So as not to be misinterpreted, I am not saying that only by paying the highest you can get the best. It depends also alot on the selection. Who selects? The interviewer so-to-speak is the deciding factor, not the candidate in this aspect. Thus, its not just about salary. Its also the selector and I like to stress that the best can also be not the highest paid. That is my believe.

  Not satisfied with one-man-one-vote process,
  
  Claimed it will cause freak election,
  
  So tweaked the one-man-one-vote into GRC,

  In actual fact it was a monopoly,

  This returns to the same mention of mine in another thread - whether PAP is the government holding 43 out of 84 seats, 57 out of 84 or 84 out of 84.

Rightfully, based on the concept that the worst part of PAP is better than the best part of opposition, this should be the case.

  Seriously speaking, another reason why any opposition who takes over won't be able to run the country is probably because of the amount of government intervention in our economic and non-economic issues.
  
  If all the government support and intervention was to cease suddenly due to a transition of power, would our economy have the fortitude to stomach it? A good time for opposition parties to really mount a good challenge is when more and more of our economy becomes more liberal. Minimize government intervention, but not withdraw it completely.
  
  Ditto for non-economic issues.
  
  If PAP was to suddenly disappear at the current moment, I think we would be in deep sh!t.

  need to point out that the WP is a opposition. it is there to PROVIDE alternative choices to the public. even if you deem their suggestions as impractical, it will certainly appeal to some of the people....
  
  if WP, an oppo party, release manifesto which are identical to that of the PAP, there will be no point in having opposition parties at all, if they do not offer voters a 2nd choice.
  
  next, WP's manifesto lack credibility cos they have almost no say in the budgeting etc.
  
  if they are in power, they will certainly have the resources to carry out their promises.
  
  talking about where the money will be coming from, this is a interesting qsn. we should ask the gov. now where is our CPF $$$ flowing to. it is unproductive to have a large sum of credit sitting somewhere in a vault, unutilised.

  Imagine life without PAP? This can happen. Nothing is permanent. Human nature is such: when they have the good things, they don't appreciate. Compare and complain and take for granted. But when it is gone, then regret.
  Can we say for sure that without PAP, life would be better? Perhaps, no need to Pay And Pay?

  Sadly, if Opps have not been given any chance to do things like negotiate treaties, FTAs, EDB stuff to attract FDI etc, there is no way they can gain that experience.
