1) Stand up against the Govt.
Dislike -
1) Stand up against the Govt on issue that he couldn't prove. (the 1billion SGD loan to Indonesia case is one example)
2) Talk about issue of Human Rights, but not knowing that S'poreans are more concern about ''Bread & Butter" issue.
3) Get into prison more times than he could get a seat in paliament. (try too hard to be a Martry)
4) Always using foregin media to bad mouth S'pore (Bad mouth PAP I no care).
5) Kick Chaim out of SDP.... then bring SDP to a all new low.
6) Make PAP look good by behaving like a clown in public.
7) Mostly alot of public stunt that gets him international attention.... but doesn't really help with S'porean problem with 'Bread & Butter' -

i hate him for being a secret mole for the MIW and destroying the opposition...
i hate him for disgracing SINGAPORE (which is totally different from the MIW)
i hate him for perpetrating the myth that the MIW = Singapore
i hate him for being a backstabbing bastard (just as Chiam)
i hate him for being a general disgrace to everyone and everything in Singapore
i hate him for distracting a whole lot of people who look upon him as some kind of hero..
to those out there.. remember.. your enemy's enemy may not be your friend -
i do admire his courage, but i wish he get himself elected into parliment first rather than creating attention that PAP is authoritarin the world already knew that no big secret. Sporean is not that kind of voters to support if u r nail sticking out. I think Sporean voters are passive protester once he is in parliment everyone will continue to vote him to be remained in the parliment. Also he would do a lot more effective if he speak out from inside the House.
anyway that is just my thought. -

While he preaches democracy, he has no respect for the law at all!

If I'm not mistaken, csj's basis for disobeying "unjust" laws is mirroing the argument given by Martin Luther King. It's based very much on the legal theory of natural law as opposed to that of legal positivism. For csj's case, i truly have no idea what he's barking about. IMHO, he seems to be barking for the sake of barking. Yes, we do need opposition to keep the government on their toes, but to do it in this way...
As for the international stance, i think he's trying hard to ally with the more educated and influential segments of society through projecting an image of a cosmopolitan Sg that is extremely in-tune with the leading first-world countries.
He's basically getting things all wrong. -

Normally, I try not to pour cold water on any efforts. However, the comparison with Mandela, Gandhi and King in some cases may be out of point, in my opinion.
They, along with most other well-known civil rights activist, fought against acute racism.
In Singapore, racism, to any extent, is not acute. I have worked under Malay and Indian bosses who were my superiors because they were graduates and more capable in the first place. This is arguably meritocratic minus acute racism.
Hardly any labelled or self-proclaimed civil rights leader in Singapore fought anything along those lines.
There are, of course, civil rights leaders who fought for political freedom. But their names do not stand out compared to Mandela, Gandhi and King at the international level.
The concept of non-violence also does not come without flaws. In Gandhi's case, non-violence became the catalyst for violence. Else, why did he have to fast? One needs to read Gandhi's story or watch the movie starring Ben Kingsley for a quick briefdown. But I surmise that all the bloodshed was necessary.

The party won three seats in Parliament in 1991.
Chee joined SDP in 1992/3
Chee Soon Juan destroyed that party, completely. -
