After the current PM steps down a new PM will come up and that will definitely bring in a new era of political instability. All the while Singapore is watched over by Lee Kuan Yew, the father of Singapore. Now the son is in power..Do you think Lee Hsien Loong's son, Li Hongyi have a chance at the throne? If not..it will signal the end of the Lee dynasty. Anything after that will be up to the public to uphold the economic performance of the country..MEaning.. we must be responsible for whom we elect to lead singapore.. I think it is better to let us have a go at this better than waiting until the current PM is out of power... After all, if anything goes wrong, we still have the current Lee dynasty to fall onto..

It is near impossible to get a PM from outside PAP as they are very strong and the opposition weak. It is near impossible to for Li Hongyi to take over LHL unless LHL stays in power for the next 30 years or so. The most probable case is a internal elected PM...you can take a look at Vivian Balakrishnan and Co generation of ministers for candidates....

yeah.. IF now they can get a PAP PM, with the help of the current PAP PM, then what will happen if after this current PAP PM leave the world? No more Lee family to look after singapore..then it will be quite unstable..

They will always have new candidates. If it comes to the point of having an unstable PM, their votes will also be unstable. Maybe then opposition will grow stronger and stop tcss / criticise but no concrete solution....we'll get a more vibrant polital scene but at the same time less predictablity and a question mark hangs over how that affects businesses/FDI, better or worst ?. Nothing ventured nothing gained or don't tread over murky water ? Whatever it is, save money for ownself 1st. Whatever happens next time, got money still can run water.

Vivian Balakrishnan seems quite possible..looks like Singapore have to slowly change from Lee family rule to really true democratic rule.. wonder what changes lie ahead of us.

I'd want someone a bit "pai kia" ... a bit kuai lan .... to be PM .... you'd have to be tough to deal with all the bullshit from other countries .....

I pick teo because of the stories I've heard about the way he conducts diplomacy for Singapore, a few years back when both countries to the north and south of us had leaders in power who didn't like us .... the man has a pair of iron balls ... -
