These people who are going are sensible and rationale not to commit any crime that is why they don't want to gather in a group with signboards and get arrested. They want to let the gahmen know that Singaporeans are not happy with what they are doing, making buying annuity compulsory, making policies without consideration for the people. To go there in groups with signboards and so on are illegal, that is the reason why they rather be there in black, do it in silence to alert the gahmen. There is already publicity by REuters on this event and by now the gahmen is aware of it.Originally posted by Melvin Tan:To be frank, wearing black for shopping isn't going to make much impact, in my view.
Firstly, a non-gathered form isn't really a protest, especially not ones who are going about their daily life.
Secondly, if they gathered, there is no meaning as there is no message.
Thirdly, there will be several shoppers wearing black who did not intend to attend any protest. Those who do won't know who's who. If the police over-reacts (which I feel is unlike), the planners would have achieved implicating them. If not, then it's back to #1 and #2.

Actually it is still too early to say ... Maybe a demonstration of larger scale can make that happen ...Originally posted by qlqq9:Get ready, foreign journalist(s) will be present. The more foreign media report on this the better. This is going to attract foreign media as this is unprecedented and new, they will be happy to report this.
Someone who knows a foreign media journalist got the confirmation from the journalist that he will be there. He is in Singapore now.Originally posted by Trump_Card:Actually it is still too early to say ... Maybe a demonstration of larger scale can make that happen ...

Protest in dictionary means a strong complaint expressing disagreement, disapproval or opposition. I agree with you that it is important to have a strong message to pass across. The strong message can come in form of uniform of loud Slogan, banners with clear message display, gestures, body language, dress code and even road march.Originally posted by Melvin Tan:To be frank, wearing black for shopping isn't going to make much impact, in my view.

As much as I want to see changes for the better, to me I have no faith in the people of Singapore, they are just too timid, fearful, kiasi, kiaus for making changes for a better life. Ruling party is aware of this and so they have been taking advantage by overpaying themselves super high salary, implementing policies without consideration for the people and so on.[/b]

I really have no answer for you. If the ruling party want it to be then it will. If the ruling party continues to refuse to change for the better, I hope an opposition party will take over them.Originally posted by MyPillowTalks:no, i haven done my holiday assignment
