SH|T... the attending officer even told my friend once, that the MP will not and cannot entertain matters concerning CPF!!!Originally posted by nationalist:Singapore right after the latest elections has taken a turn in propaganda by politicians.
1. One of the sentiments felt by people was that MPs were not working hard for their votes.
2. They do not stop by the door of residents to exchange greetings and check on thier well-being.
3. Meet the People Sessions are like production lines. Meet the petition writer, stay in line and than meet the MP who says very little, signs off the letter and says we'll help you. you are than showed the door.
4. Meet the People session is not the place to sit and talk with the MP on issues of concern...he/she has no time for that as there is a line and the gate-keepers want you to declare your problem and write the letter of petition...very in the box thinking.
5. So when do you actually talk to your MP if you want to discuss national issues...no time for that...MPs are paid full time salary and yet dont serve full time
Conclusion:
To cover up thier absence in constituency 60% of the time and with no emergency help line direct to them like we do in Hougang constituency, PAP MPs are now putting up their face all over the island with poster campaigns on Dengue to National Day! People are than reminded that they exist and then get brainwashed to vote them because familiarity elicits recognition which translates to affinity. Singaporeans beware of this new wave of propaganda mushrooming all over the island: Absent PAP MPs in national campaign posters - its a clever trick!
What can the MP do regarding important things like CPF?Originally posted by HyperFocal:SH|T... the attending officer even told my friend once, that the MP will not and cannot entertain matters concerning CPF!!!

What's that? ... Reduced-Crap Committees?Originally posted by ditzy:You know why there are such things called RC committees?![]()
Charlize, your observation is similar to mine. I witnessed a block headed MPS staff refusing a resident who just wants to see the MP and have a conversation about some policy issue...the block headed staff insisted that a letter of petition must be written before seeing the MP...there were voices raised and several more block headed MPS staffs intervene to explain the same policy. Finally, I am not sure what transpired, the lady just left saying: "You guys are so bureaucratic!"Originally posted by charlize:What can the MP do regarding important things like CPF?
They are essentially there to handle problems like faulty taps or peeling ceilings.
Really Crappy CommitteesOriginally posted by HyperFocal:What's that? ... Reduced-Crap Committees?
Exactly, the MP is supposed to be your representative in Parliament. Not the Government's mouthpiece to the address the people.Originally posted by HyperFocal:SH|T... the attending officer even told my friend once, that the MP will not and cannot entertain matters concerning CPF!!!

I almost intervened as I thought the resident had every right to meet the MP with or without a petition letter at hand! But I didn't because all of them are just block headed and the only way was to show disgust through the ballot box for absent and fenced out MPs.
