*shrugs* What can I say?Originally posted by reddressman:Why is there a need to talk about this?
Is it not like what you said, "HERE WE GO AGAIN"?
The People will continue to accept.
I applaud the Operators way of hike.
2 cents at a time.
You wont feel it. So, you wont scream.
Effectively, its 1 hike every 2 years of last year hike + this year hike.

Sad to say, I have some idiot friends who are like that.Originally posted by dragg:they'll interview some idiots on tv who will say, "its ok since the increase is only 1 to 2 cents."

I just came back from Germany, and yes, I can vouch for the fact you put up here.Originally posted by eagle:I will compare the train service between here and the U-Bahn in germany. A ticket costs about 1-2 euros.
In sg, the train ticket costs about 1-2 sgd.
We earn 3k sgd, they earn 3k euros for the same job.
Fact: Germany has one of the most expensive train systems in Europe.
Fact: In Germany, there's BahnCard 50, which reduces all train tickets bought by 50%. The BahnCard 50 costs 200 euros for a year's validity. It covers tickets bought for ICE, RE, RB, etc
Which actually make Singapore trains seem expensive.
i make it a point to avoid hawkers that increase prices for no good reason.Originally posted by soul_rage:Sad to say, I have some idiot friends who are like that.
"aiya, only 1 to 2 cents. Nothing lah. Why complain?"
The other day, at the coffeeshop where I was eating my fave BBQ chicken wings, the owner came to me (I am his regular customer) and said he intends to increase his price. His reason was that, his was only $1 and other places now sell $1.10 or $1.20, so he thinks he should increase.
Basically, I will not eat again if he increases his price.
However, transport is one where there is no choice. Its not as if we can say, "let's take another bus company's service since this one increases his price".
someone said its unfair not to allow the increase because of the gst hike.Originally posted by Trump_Card:Are there no reasons given this time for the fare increase ?
interesting, so I expect next year's wage increase should take into accountOriginally posted by dragg:someone said its unfair not to allow the increase because of the gst hike.

My aunt was interviewed for her views on the casino couple of years ago . She was against the idea of having a casino and that never came out in the news ...Originally posted by sunnytv:They will never interview those who said the fare hike is unfair. Even interview them they will take it away or not telecast.
They'll only interview who will say, "its ok since the increase is only 1 to 2 cents." These people had never been poor and experience hardship before, when they are suck dry, they will know and hope they don't cry. You deserve it.
The commercial transport companies is very happy now. More money coming their way.
... ...yet..It's coming, very soon..Originally posted by soul_rage:SINGAPORE: Adult EZ—link fares for buses will increase by between one and two cents from 1 October.
Senior citizen concessionary EZ—link bus fares, which are flat fares pegged to the lowest adult fare band, will go up by two cents.
But the Public Transport Council (PTC) has decided there will be no increase in train fares.
