BUT... i think many didnt realise that.. while singapore is the most sea lane dependent nation... MALAYSIA is THE second most sea lane dependent nation with 66 percent of their GNP requireing the use of the Sea lanes.. or SLOC as most people call it....
Furthermore... the regional SLOC are the artery for many nation's trade... an SLOC blockade would surely bring swift response from all major, global and regional powers into the conflict....

Commandos are considered to be like the special forces of singapore like the Green Berets and Rangers. The NDU is the singaporean version of the Sea Air And Land Team. While the UK vesion of the elite paratrooper force that can spear head any combined infantry attack because of their combat readiness and training.Originally posted by want to know:Is there a reason why Guards are called Guards instead of Marines?
What is the difference between Commando, Guards and Infantry? And what is their role. Is it true that Infantry is where all the lousy and not so highly educated soldier go to?
All singapore military force units should be treated with equal respected including adminstration , infantry ,medic......etc each individual plays an important part of singapore mainland defense.Commando and guard are singapore's elite forces, true.Without medics etc they are to some extend crippled.i always believe singaporean views should be broaden rather then being confined into one aspect.Parent always told us dont be like a sweeper.......and we grown up thinking sweeper is a lowly educated and unprofessional people.Originally posted by gUms:Our guards Are really elite , 1 of my frend from 2rd gurds when to hawaii early dis yr for 1 month to train with the U.S navy seals

i have no quarrels with their noble role, but i don't feel the same about their professional attitude, or rather, the lack of it...Originally posted by LeFire:Yup... One truly appreciates medics only after he has been messed up bad (during training).
