MAN ELECTROCUTED WHILE TRYING TO SAVE GIRLFRIEND September 17, 2007
HE was trying to save his girlfriend, but ended up getting killed instead.
Apple Daily reported that the man, MrHuang Yong Tong, was electrocuted on Friday while trying to turn off the shower connected to a water heater suspected to be faulty.
Police investigations revealed that MrHuang, 22, was on the phone with his live-in girlfriend Wu's twin sister when he heard a scream from the bathroom of their rented apartment in Cheung Sha Wan.
Mr Huang hurriedly cut off the conversation, and rushed to the bathroom where he saw Wu sprawled on the floor.
She was said to have lost consciousness after receiving an electric shock while turning on the shower.
Mr Huang is believed to have been trying to turn off the running shower while he was electrocuted too.
Like his girlfriend, Mr Huang also collapsed. Only he never got up again.
According to Apple Daily, Wu came around after a few minutes to find her boyfriend unconscious beside her, and quickly called for help.
But Mr Huang was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. It is not clear what the extent of Wu's injuries were.
When his mother rushed to the hospital and saw her son, she was so distraught that she could only ask Wu to cover Mr Huang's chest injuries with a shirt.
Apple Daily quoted the power authorities as saying that they had received earlier complaints of an electric leakage from the apartment.
But they found that the water heater in question was working fine and suspect a power leakage from one of the electrical cables may have caused the accident.
Police are still investigating the matter.

When in emergency, people tend to solve the problem direction without thinking.
Maybe that guy is too worried about his girlfriend already, that's why his action is a result of insufficient logic process.

The thread title is rather misleading. And why is this in Speaker's Corner anyway? If I'm not wrong this incident took place in Hong Kong and has nothing to do with Singapore or politics.
