if they don't do that, how can they increase their salary further???Originally posted by ORIGAMIST:My thought exactly !! .. all the best to you .... The MP's, Ministers should read this .. They think they are the thinker and what they do is always the best for us .. I cannot imagine I can live beyond 70.. so the annuity contribution is to contribute to their pocket .. that all I can think of ...

Kekeke, thank God I won't be around to vote....yeah or maybe I will be voting for another PM....definitely not a Sillypore PM.....much nicer to vote in another country.......Originally posted by HyperFocal:They are asking for and pathing their way to a VERY shaky GE in 3 years time...
Well they think that the common man out there with probably a diploma or something cannot manage his/her own money and that the scholarly types can manage them for us........more like they would take care of their own kind first, ensuring that their children get into top schools, be awarded a scholarship and get a iron bowl job in some GLCs....that's how it is all here, just look at Wee Shu Min.....brought up to look down on the common manOriginally posted by BillyBong:Although i think Low's retort to Sin Boon Ann was unnecessary, i still think the tampines MP ought to be reprimanded more directly for his criticism of Sylvia's challenge( reported in yesterday's ST)
It was tantamount to saying Singaporeans don't know how to manage their own savings, so the 'garbarment' must step in.
bollocks

Will this annuity caused more local to give up their citizenship?Originally posted by Coquitlam:Well they think that the common man out there with probably a diploma or something cannot manage his/her own money and that the scholarly types can manage them for us........more like they would take care of their own kind first, ensuring that their children get into top schools, be awarded a scholarship and get a iron bowl job in some GLCs....that's how it is all here, just look at Wee Shu Min.....brought up to look down on the common man
What do you think? Cars here can only drive for 10 years, afterwhich, you need to pay through your nose to keep driving it for another 10years.Originally posted by will4:Will this annuity caused more local to give up their citizenship?
Well I've given up my citizenship and am cashing out my cpf 100%Originally posted by will4:Will this annuity caused more local to give up their citizenship?
Agree.Originally posted by mancha:Lets not be in attacking mode.
Lets be in thinking mode.
How are the housewives to be catered for?
These important people are deemed unemployed.
And therefore fell through the crack in the CPF scheme.
Another thought entered my mind.
How would the annuities be paid out to the 85 years old?
To bank accounts, of course.
And how would the shaky, rickety octogenarian go to the bank/ATM to withdraw the monthly payout?
18? Most people at your age have already set the sights and made up their minds to make it in whatever they choose to endeavour in - ABROAD.Originally posted by furb:hmm, can someone tell me how this annuities work? Well, I'm only 18 this year but I feel that this will affect my future someway or another.
that's your vision and your choice. Singapore is my home and this is where my family and friend are. It is good that he is at least concern to find out how these "policies" is going to affect him. Rather than whinning, complaining and "leaving as a solution", do something that will make it changeOriginally posted by HyperFocal:18? So lets say you stay... at your current age, by the time you reach my age of 40 something, and if PAP is STILL around, God Bless You....
I agree, you do have a point. However, one person, a few people, a large group, cannot make any changes. It would take half the population to make them TAKE NOTE. It will also take Cause & Effects, for them to TAKE NOTE & change - or else... even a Slow Cooker can boil over...Originally posted by Lin Yu:that's your vision and your choice. A promising young debater was once challenging the political scene in a debating motion many years ago. Originally posted by mancha:LHL has many times stated clearly that he is not giving welfare - not making Singapore a welfare state. ON the contrary, ng eng hen said that gahmen is not shirking responsibility.
The problem lies in the mindset of the PAP, who think "subsidy and welfare" are sacrilegious.
People who live till 85 years old should be rewarded by the government, with monthly cash grant.
The present system of draw down with the retirement fund will serve almost all Singaporeans, as most will not outlast their cash. Only the present old folks may not have enough savings, but the young now are building up their savings, and will have more than sufficient when they get are old. The percentage point increase in interest rate is of much help. Majority of them too will not outlast their retirement fund.
Therefore it would make sense to "reward" those who lived past 85 years old, and have run out of cash/assets/family support. Also of those few who reached 85 years, all of them could terminate at any moment. Just a matter of tomorrow, next week, or very soon. Therefore the payout would not be catastropic. Our nation can afford it. Our people would agree to it.
In the present system, housewives are left out of the equation. They are deemed as unemployed, without a CPF account, therefore no savings and no retirement fund. Their best bet is to outlive their husband and inherit his CPF money.
Housewifes infact serve the most important of social functions, that of homemaker and mother to the future generation.
Each and everyone must work and save, and welfare is a dirty word, that mindset must change.
Isn't it the same with the Presidential Election?Originally posted by RatFink:Talk talk talk also no point.
Election come they start 200 man GRC, then check their form with magnifying glass and void because one dot look funny.
No need to vote already and they will say SEE? 100% Singaporeans vote for us!! We are the best!! We increase our pay again!!!
Like last election. Talk cock that majority of Singaporeans vote them in. Actually majority of Singaporeans did not even get to vote even.
