Basically, my little understanding is, if you have a skill in some kind of demand in the country, you can apply for migration as a Skilled Migrant. I think to migrate to Canada is easier than Australia. Any comments?Originally posted by Daddy!!:Does anyone have any comment on this topic?
Reyes has good pointers.Originally posted by reyes:if u dont have 1 million. there is 2 way u can go.
1. skills migration.
if your skills are require in australia then you can opt to work there at first and then apply. do note that depends on which part of australia u intend to move.
coz skills requirement in different states could be different.
eg. in perth and darwin, a degree in electronics engineering probably cant get u any good job. but if are a car mechanicm, plumber, you did be surprise that you are in demand!!!
2. spouse migration. get a australia wife. if you dont mind, you can married ah Bo! aboriginals. just kidding!!.
she can apply for you, and i think its the easiest!!
As much as singapore welcomes people who wants to leave their country where they were born, so too should we give the same acceptance for people in SG who wants to do the same. Else, double-standard?Originally posted by fishbuff:i came here to australia as a skilled migrant.
application fee is S$1850 back then, and throw in *ahem* emigrating agent fee which is about $2.2k. but u can do it by yourself.
now the fees had went up, all in all, s$6700.
question is; what is the driving force for your decision? is it pull or push factor.
each place has its own strength and weakness, so it is up to u to make that decision.
If I have a S$million, I don't have to work. Every month, I will be at the immigration checkpoint from Australia to Zimbabwe!Originally posted by Daddy!!:interest rates are pretty high in australia. so taking debt is not an option. thats why i am thinking if i want to migrate there, how much do i need? maybe S$1million is JUST enough
At current market prices, S$1mio translates to only AUD750K which can afford only a small appartment (AUD500K) with security guards. The balance AUD250K is to buffer the uncertainty in migration.Originally posted by TheGoodEarth:If I have a S$million, I don't have to work. the problem i think as a skilled migrant without enough money would face these problems of (a) paying high rental as tenants, (b) paying high mortgage interests as owner of a house/appartment, (c) whats the outcome once hit by job uncertainty. Consider this for someone who has a family to support.Originally posted by reyes:if u dont have 1 million. there is 2 way u can go.

So one needs money to pay in cash a safe apartment (with porter security and private car-park) to eliminate the problems of LIVING UNDER THE BURDEN OF HIGH INTEREST RATES and a buffer to safeguard one from falling down under this burden. I guess S$1mio is JUST enough. Am i correct?
