  TheGoodEarth, no one over here is doubting the benefits of an annuity and definitely no one can take that point away from you. The main gist is that we are not given a choice over the annuity even though the cost of the annuity is obtained from very own monies. The fact is that the Singaporean population wants to be given choices regarding the decisions made by the govt and no longer wanting the govt to force-feed their decisions down our throats.

  So far, you are the most sensible. What makes you think I do not know that this thread is full of political overtones and personal gripes about the gahmen, and not really about annuity? You see, I am testing what kind of people there are here, how they reason, how they think, what they say, how they react. It is interesting to get behind the pysche, that way you learn a lot about people - and that can be very frightening!

  The discussion of Annuity has to do with the PERSONAL MONEY that each Singaporean Worker has contributed MONTHLY throughout their WORKING LIFE into the CPF; with the assurance made by legislation in 1957 that it will paid as a lump sum when age 55 is reached, and which was subsequently changed to a delayed paid out at age 60.
  
  Now, 50 years later, we are told that some portions of the money will NEVER be returned and is to be invested permanently into an Annuity Pool, and that any balance amount will NOT be returned to surviving family members.
  
  You ought to be frightened at the pysche involved, especially when we have been cheated of the personal trust given to a Government that assured us that the hard earned MONEY in the CPF will NOT be returned in full.
  
  What crap have you been fed with that you will not be emotional ?
  
  What crap have you been fed with NOT to be able to read what others have proposed as an alternative ?
  
  Just to repeat again the alternative to having our CPF to kick-start and fund this Annuity Scheme - I have proposed over your pile of crap that this Government should contribute 1% as annual premium for the Annuity Scheme; and with this 1% taken from the Annual Gross or Net Profit of GIC and Temasek Holdings {both of which has a stable of government owned subsidiaries that have benefitted from the use of CPF monies to start-up their companies, while the CPF stakeholders are paid a miserable interest}.
  
  If this Government can pay themselves Million Dollar wages that will end up as their PENSION for the rest of their natural lives, why will they not assist the larger population with an equivalant amount ?
  
  If this Government can lose the Billions of Singapore Dollars on failed ventures abroad that benefit the foreign nationals - {Thaksin and the failed Shin Corp, China and Suzhou were the main beneficiaries of our failed investment, India and the various big business that sold small stakes of their enterprises to Temasek and its subsidiaries companies} - why will not the same amount be spent in Singapore for the benefit of Singaporeans, especially the Aged ?
  
  If you learn to spread your crap thinner instead of being so generously thick, you will at least have less trouble treading through your crap and see what have been posted by others.
