u can become House Agent without any knowledge in property.
u need attend 90 hours classrooms lessons and pass a written test before sitting
in front of a Taxi wheel
or u need a at least 40 hours training in order become a security guard
But u need none to transact property worths million of
dollars for their clients!!
1.u can become a house agent in 3 minutes!!
The only law requirement is u must attach to a Licensed House Agency.
Therefore,even u cant read nor understand Option etc ,
u can be a House Agent anytime.
Under the laws,u are not required to study or pass any test before
u become house agent.
World class city?
We are much behind HK in regulating house agents.
Pl share with us your experiences with bad agents. -
Ermm, to be a house agent, you need to go thru the company's own courses....

it takes 3 years course to become an accountant
it takes 4 years course to become engineer
it takes 5 years course to become a teacher
it takes 7 years course to become a doctor....
and it takes 3 mins to become a property agent...

i think it's 3rd world standard for property agents... no wonder any tom dick or harry can become one!!!! -

That is why, govt is implementing in 2008... all agents are suppose to get their CEHA cert.... by hook or by crook!
so why are u complaining? -
precisely, Its either CEHA or a diploma in real estate.
If you think CEHA is easy, think insurance agents. -

it is not all must have CEHA. dunt get it wrong.

3.Remember HDB Listed agent scheme?
Many big agency,including the big boys,all get Listed and non-listed
agency.
4.SAEA is just another form of Listed agency.Waste $$.
5.Government dunt has any laws to make
sure ALL house agent is properly
trained ,
tested,
and individually licensed
before they ask their clients to sign on the dotted line. -

As a part-time agent myself, I support certification for agents. I would want to complete CEHA before venturing out full time.

Age 21. I remembered 3 or 4 O Level passes required but not sure as it is not listed here.

You can enquire on the O Level part through e-mail with them. I'll try to find out more in the meantime. Apologies that I lack the knowledge on this part
Looks like you have the ambition of becoming an agent? It is a job that does not pay basic and requires lots of hard work but one can get there. "Burning" of weekends is necessary. More importantly, be sincere. Best of luck

the problem is ethics....no matter how you try to certify, you can't certify one to be more moral....
when you have the cj espousing greed, you see lawyers screwing ordinary folks for money.....most recently a teacher saddled with $100k legal debt over a couple of hundred dollars.....
same for housing agents, for an extra 1%, some would deny the best deals for their clients...an additional certificate cannot remove the greed from within... -

Real estate agents should be regulated and supervised using tougher Law. There are many complaints on them from the public. Always see their advertisement litter around the floor. So annoying, always say "No 1 real estate agent in Singapore!" so arrogant

Oh.some agents boss want to set up a asssociation to let
BOSS of agencies to get together.
Doctors,lawyers,arichitect,etc only have ONE formal society.
If house agents looks up themselves to be real professional,
they should comprise NOW to have one society to promote their images and standard.
2.First thing first.Ask gavamen to legalise individual agents,not
currently only legalise agency!!
All must pass exam BEFORE they practise,like Insurance agents .
Now it went back to history of ASR,a Malay house agent
associatio,etc,,,
3.Gavamen shall act now to regulate house agents industry.
This is a big joke in international arena that SPORE house agents can practice and ask u sign on dotted lines costing u whole life saving,but the agent cannot expalin the full meaning of the contract !!

Before the CEHA requirement kicks in, it is a little stretched to state that one can be an agent in three minutes. Agents are required to attend a course of about 40 hours.
Anyone who attempts to be an agent in three minutes will know nothing about this industry to the extent that you can tell through him with just a few simple questions and drop him for another. There are many flyers going around these days and one would surely be able to find an agent with more than this "three minutes" experience. In reality, it's impossible to find an agent as such and hence, more difficult than an experienced one :)
An exam, while necessary, is not a fool-proof criteria to judge a profession. Virtually all hawkers we buy food from do not pass exams. Most cook food delicious or edible enough and the rest, I can choose not to eat theirs :)
