Similarly with many of the policies in Singapore, the government works hard to ensure our Asian roots are not forgotten in our Westernized culture.
By learning from the West does not make the government cock suckers.

We are a diplomatic nation. Understand where Singapore is coming from. Do not forget that George Yeo is the first to lead the ASEAN and speak up and condemned the Burmese authorities in this incident.
Before we jump on the bandwagon and accuse Singapore for this and that, also remember that we are a young country and we are undergoing stabilization. We cannot be a world power yet, to echo values of 'high morals'.
It will probably take another 50 years for our nation to become a liberal society with a free press. But we are still sailing in rocky seas and we as people of Singapore should stay united and lay the foundations for a civilized and liberal society for the future generations. Remember, we are still the pioneers of this young country.
