LKY has surrendered the future political stability of Singapore to the self-preservation of a political party that he has created. He has surrendered the political future of Singapore by building politicised public institutions that are all geared to preserve the political survival of ONE Political Party - his OWN.
Has he ever considered the future of creating a neutral political structure that is strong and professional - above politics; all combined to become the neutral aribiter that will balance the forces of the Executive Government, Political Parties in Parliament, the Judiciary, the Civil Administration, the Law and Security Enforcers from the Military and the Police ?
Sadly, LKY has presented Singapore with a white blankness that require Singaporeans to be exposed to perpetual upheavals, to continuous instability and changes to the lives of Singaporeans - as much as his Political Party attempt to create a sense of stability and keeping the situation under control.
His blandness has stifled Singaporean for the last 50 years, and continue to restrain Singapore's ability to move ahead. He has regretted the disapproval of having casinos and F-1 races when these were raised in the 1970s and the 1980s; and Singapore has little choice in the 21st Century when there are few options left for his OWN son to be successful as PM.
The blandness of LKY's political insecurity has prevented Singapore to be more vibrant and enterprising, and has resulted in at least three generations of Singaporean being moulded into political and economic digits to serve the MNCs, instead of being developing politically imaginative, and enterprising economically vibrant future generational leaders in a Global Economy.
The reason for the need to import foreign talents is primarily due to the past purposeful policies that have dulled the minds of Singaporeans, so as to remove the sting of a political active and awakened population from challenging the supremacy of himself and his OWN Political Party.
Time has passed and the veins of history and regret of pass missed opportunities are now surfacing; and it will take another three generations before a new mindset will form that will create new generations of leaders naturally from those who have lived here for generations.
In any case, it is an odd way to wear the Filippino 'Barong Tagalog' tucked into white trousers.
It shows the blandness in the ability to create a Singapore national dress for the last 50 years. -

MM Lee has, transformed singapore to how it is today.. Not Saying that it's bad but imagine life without him, it would be totally diff, our sg may be like modern day Sri Lanka, Fighting Wars With The Tamils or being ruled by the communist, we should all be thankful of what he did, although some actions that the gov do might not seem right to us now, but hey when Als (olden day erp) was released, the people were furious, but then they slowly get to realise and are thankful of it, vehicle numbers dropped from 32500 to 7700 perday. -

why do people only see his intentions as evil and him being a dictator? in fact, if we were to reflect what happened after the post-war period, we ought to be thankful that we've got him, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. On top of that, he has been serving and moulding Singapore into a mordern and respectable society.
just IMHO, not encouraging any confict with any anti-Lees.
