Perhaps there is some truth to what you are saying. On the other hand, do you want Indonesian-Malays or Malaysian Malays to be imported to Singapore ? India and China are experiencing strong economic growth and more are getting educated and hungry for a better paying jobs. I can't say the same for our neighbours. Besides i wouldn't know if they want to come here. Our neighbouring countries, Malaysia in particular has always been emphasizing that the Malays in Singapore are marginalised etc. This goes down well with them despite the majority of them are living in poverty. Ironical isn't it.Originally posted by MRidzwan:Singapore has been bringing in plenty of immigrants from China and India to counter the growth of its Malay population. This is presumably to keep our ethnic proportions in check. But what is the cost to our nation in the long run?
Singapore’s latest population census is out. According to figures from the Department of Statistics, the percentage of Malays in Singapore has declined to just 13.5% – down from 14% in 1990. This comes in despite the fact that Malays have the most superior fertility rates when compared against the Chinese and Indians.

I don't know about you but i faced a culture shock when i was living with them. We may be of the same race but we were brought up in a different environment.Originally posted by zenden9:No matter u are a Chinese Singaporean or a Chinese PRC,u still are a Chinese. No matter u are a Malay Singaporean or a Malay Malaysian,u still are a Malay. U speak the same language, celebrate the same festival and understand the same culture!
Understand the rationale?
That is yr problem but not Gov problem! Got it?Originally posted by kramnave:I don't know about you but i faced a culture shock when i was living with them. We may be of the same race but we were brought up in a different environment.
This statement is a sweeping comment, well, we grow to understand and have tolerance on one another's culture difference, this makes us special than other countries.Originally posted by zenden9:No matter u are a Chinese Singaporean or a Chinese PRC,u still are a Chinese. So if it is not about race, why mention race then?Originally posted by MRidzwan:i know u're not. but this was the impression that the minorities had initially, that Chinese singaporeans are thrilled over the fact that their brothers and sisters from China are joining them for a nice family re-union.
But as a true blue Singaporean, we are worried about the future of our country once these "instant citizens" come in. It's not about race that makes us uneasy. If they were Malaysian Malay immigrants we would feel the same too. That us, local born Singaporeans who would die for our land, are losing out to free roaming foreigners here just to make a fortune and enjoy the good life our fathers have built.
I am sure it is alarming for anyone to see their own ethnic population on the decline but what is your best solution on that if you dont believe that Malaysian Malays should fill to maintain the balance? I feel all immigrants deserve a fair chance anywhere in this world and you should welcome your own if the malays over the causeway decide to crossover.Originally posted by MRidzwan:i know u're not. but this was the impression that the minorities had initially, that Chinese singaporeans are thrilled over the fact that their brothers and sisters from China are joining them for a nice family re-union.

Unfortunately babies can't work now and unfortunately not all babies have the required skills, experience, talent and interest.Originally posted by drawer:To tell you guys the truth,i dont like Malaysian Malays. The Malaysian Malays only care about the welfare of their own race. The government there impose too many rules and regulations that favour the Malays.Which is really unfair to Chinese n Indians there!!!
If Singapore in future has to merge with other countries,i dont want it to be Malaysia.Oh,and Indonesia. These 2 countries protect Malays too much!!!But as to immigrants come to Singapore,i also dont like that. But i think the PAP has run out of wits rather than bring in immigrants so as to balance up the racial structure.
That is the sad thing about PAP.Their dictatorial ruling has unable to encourage their own ppl to produce more babies and has to bring in immigrants to solve their problems.Stupid!!!!
Then u think immigrant's babies will have the required skills, experience, talent and interest?Originally posted by kramnave:Unfortunately babies can't work now and unfortunately not all babies have the required skills, experience, talent and interest.
Immigrants babies may or may not have the skills but presently the immigrants have.Originally posted by drawer:Then u think immigrant's babies will have the required skills, experience, talent and interest?
And the most important thing is,are the immigrants want to have their babies here whereby living expenses are so goddamn high and that this island is basically controlled in the hand of one family?(Bear in mind, this country is controlled by one family, not one party!!!)
Maybe Chinese men are poking women from GL, OT, KTV, Batam rather than their wives ?Originally posted by funnyboii:i think why malay population is on the rise can also say that malay have more free time for family.
in the other hand chinese tense to say earn more money no time for sex n dun want to give birth later my body dun look nice n most of all chinese girls really look at looks thats why population for chinese drop
indian in singapore are normally root to the motherland india i got many sg friend indain when earn money later go to india to live
Then u mean PAP want to dilute Malay % in SG? Say openly lah.Originally posted by MRidzwan:Singapore has been bringing in plenty of immigrants from China and India to counter the growth of its Malay population. It sure is a better choice compared to getting people from China or India /Pakistan etc cuz they wouldnt have any problems assimilating into the society. There must be many professional people of fine quality in SEA who want to get out and come to Singapore.Originally posted by mancha:The offer to Malaysia and Indonesia must not be racially discriminatory, i.e. it must be open to all their citizens, no selection of race.
We cannot specify that only Malays need apply.
Open applications to Malaysia, and we will see Indians and Chinese swamp the office.
