When u mentioned ASEAN investment, do they reached to the common people of Burma or just merely benefiting the members of the Junta? In fact, ASEAN has consistently pressed the Burmese junta to mend its way but it remained recalcitrant now it has reached intolerable level n Spore govt has voiced out its harsh opinion on the junta. Look at the report, head of the junta can also differ in its method with his deputy over the shooting of the monk.Originally posted by Gazelle:Just because the global media are now focusing on Myanmar, the latter has now become another platform for the sheep in this forum to use some white manÂ’s opinion to criticize our government as if they (the whites) are naturally smarter than their own ancestor of different skin colors, and they have now become the most caring community in Singapore. OR should I say NATO community in Singapore??
The problem that the Burmese are facing today is nothing new, those who have traveled to Yangon or Mandalay for business or holiday would have already know that people there are extremely poor and they are deprived of many things in life for many many years. And suppose if Singapore/Asean government or companies didnt provide "aid" or investment to Myanmar, the Burmese will still be living in a world without internet, mobile phone, computers etc and communication with the outside world would be cut off.
After reading so much comments from the wannabe politicians (aka arm chair critics) in this forum, none of these people have actually highlighted the importance of Myanmar to Singapore and the ASEAN region and all they can think about is what the white people are saying about us and speculating that Singapore government is supporting Junta against their own people.
If you havenÂ’t already know, Myanmar is the only ASEAN country that links SE-Asia to the India continent and they are geographically connect to India, Bangladesh, China, Laos and Thailand. If Singapore or ASEAN would to isolate Myanmar like North Korea, this will create a lot of instability in the region and it will become a huge trade barrier bAsean and India continent.
Mr. Texas BUSH, Puppet Blair and PM Coward have already made huge mistake in their approach in dealing with Arabs in the Middle East, do you have reasons to believe that white people are more capable than Asians to deal with Asians? Plus have the sheep ever ask themselves how much investment these white countries have in Iraq and Iran prior to the WAR?
To all those white di.ck suckers out there, please stop disgracing Singaporeans!!
The idea of admitting Burma into ASEAN is already mistake n they claimed by admitting Burma into ASEAN will enable the junta to mend its way. Does that imply everyone who makes such an inference are sheep?
By that same misguided mentality, i can claim your cheap attempts at labelling the so-called 'sheep as witless 'blind subservience'.![]()
Would you have reason to believe that if Myanmar was excluded from Asean, thing will not get worst?Originally posted by will4:The idea of admitting Burma into ASEAN is already mistake n they claimed by admitting Burma into ASEAN will enable the junta to mend its way. It is all
bullshit cause since Burma's admission as a member for the past ten years, no change at all.
What benefit has ASEAN got to gain by allowing Burma to join ASEAN? I think it is more of Burma is making use of ASEAN's policy of non-intereference toOriginally posted by Gazelle:Would you have reason to believe that if Myanmar was excluded from Asean, thing will not get worst?
Btw, why are you addressing the country as Burma and not Myanmar? Are you following what the Brit and Americans are doing?

Asean and the rest of the world recognise Myanmar as Myanmar, and only the Brit and American doesnt. So as a Asean member, I think we should address them as Myanmar and not Burma, unless of course if you are a White D sucker.Originally posted by mancha:BTW
Burma/Myanmar are both correct. Burma has been used internationally for a long time. Myanmar is the formal name used by the Burmese, all that time.
The name change was by the military junta, and was done unilaterally by them, and therefore not recognised by some countries. And they continue to use Burma. But the Myanmar change is recognised by the UN, and so the rest of the world use it.

I recently read the following...
...could there possibly be any truth in any of this?
Thousands of protesters are dead and the bodies of hundreds of executed monks have been dumped in the jungle, a former intelligence officer for MyanmarÂ’s ruling junta Hla Win has revealed.
He said: 'Many more people have been killed in recent days than you've heard about. The bodies can be counted in several thousand.'
Rewind.
SINGAPORE isn't just skilled at mandatory executions of drug traffickers, running an excellent airport and selling cameras on Orchard Road. It also does a useful trade keeping Myanmar's corrupt military rulers and their cronies afloat.
But by providing Myanmar's pariah junta with the crucial equipment mostly denied by Western sanctions, Singapore has helped keep the junta and its cronies afloat for 20 years, since the last time the generals killed the citizens they are supposed to protect.
Withdraw that financial support and Myanmar's junta would be substantially weakened, perhaps even fail. But after two decades of profitable business with the trigger-happy generals and their cronies, that's about the last thing Singapore is likely to do. There's too much money to be made.
Hotels, airlines, military materiel and training, crowd control equipment and sophisticated telecoms-monitoring devices for its secret police — Singapore is manager and supplier to the junta, and the "cronified" economy it controls.
The Burmese among themselves call their country Burma.Originally posted by Gazelle:Asean and the rest of the world recognise Myanmar as Myanmar, and only the Brit and American doesnt. You certainly show some brilliance in Burmese History to state that the British is directly responsible for the state Myanmar is in right now ?Originally posted by TheGoodEarth:hahahah, I get this feeling that some political vibers are going to call me names here ..... but none-the-less, here is my piece of trolling truth:
Go, read history! Everybody (all of a sudden) seems to know Myanmar like they know Burmese. Go live in that country and get a good feel.
Do you not know that the British is directly responsible for the state Myanmar is right now?
The Burmese will definitely have their spirits lifted to know that despite material progress, Singaporeans remain subjected to the same kind of political regimentation as the Burmese are experiencing despite the ''poverty'' that they are supposed to be suffering.
It is compassionate to feel for the people, their plight and predicaments. But to spill meaningless rhetorics is plain stupidity. In another thread 'SG worse than Myanmar', I can't help laughing at the many idiots who agreed. These people should go and stay in Myanmar till the junta give up. In the meantime, they can also tell the Burmese how fortunate they are because SG is worse than Myanmar. It would bring consolations for them. They are already so poor, backward and repressed and to hear stories of how bad SG is compared to their own country will certainly lift their spirits!!

I am sure the sheep in this forum will believe you.

Try sniffing harder at the crap, and the 'pile of crap' may also amuse you just as well.
hahaha, just as I guessed, your rhetorics are far more interesting than your sincerity in helping the people of Myanmar or Burma.Originally posted by Atobe:In anycase, it will not take a stretch of imagination to know the attraction and relationship between a 'pile of crap' and a 'crap sniffer'
