hahaha.... that is your conclusion and linkage. Even if you want to be good or a hero, you also need guts! How many a times, I see people who knew what is right but shrunk when asked to make a stand or become dumb when asked to speak up!Originally posted by storywolf:so you mean it take guts to be dumb and foolish !!! I much prefer a gutsy fool than a cowardly smart!

The only stupidity in this world is when you think your views are the only truth, and refuse to be flexible in dealing with issues, rather than focusing on the character you love to hate.
what is the use of publicise himself, he can't even stand for election, he wanted to defend democracy just like JBJ, never give up,not like majority of Singaporeans who are selfish, kiasi, kiasu , ke kiang, ke poh, ke keOriginally posted by airgrinder:right intention, wrong method.
Sometimes, I wondered what's his real intention, is it really for the burmanese or trying to publicise himself...
He's not a politician with Parliamentary ambitions. What he desires is beyond that, and is abstract, which I'm told many Singaporeans do not have a keen ability to appreciation (abstractions, not Parliament).Originally posted by t_a_s:what is the use of publicise himself, he can't even stand for election, he wanted to defend democracy just like JBJ, never give up,not like majority of Singaporeans who are selfish, kiasi, kiasu , ke kiang, ke poh, ke ke

Anyone must be blind if they think he wants to be an MP.
Chee is an activist first and foremost. As for being Sec-Gen of the SDP, that is merely secondary.

For some reason you assume anyone who dun side with your favourite personality, sides with government. Hmm....Originally posted by LazerLordz:The enemy of my enemy may not be my friend, but he is still useful if kept at arms' length.
Like I said, it's a game of perceptions. It doesn't matter what any individual, especially the man in the street with little diffusable leverage think.
Weberian politics requires the population to be easily convinced that particular tall poppies be labelled in a zero-sum fashion as a kook.
Now while Chee's has his negative moments, let us not always diverge into the muddy waters of the big picture, oft-repeated ad naseum by those chaps you love to call the gabrament.
The issue here is the parallels/interaction between the Burmese junta and the role, much unsaid as it has been; of our cheng-hu. The only matter is the mileage and the vehicle for garnering that mileage.
Do I?Originally posted by airgrinder:For some reason you assume anyone who dun side with your favourite personality, sides with government. Hmm....
So can I say while the government has their negative moments, let us not always diverge into the muddy waters of the big picture, oft-repeated ad naseum by those chaps you love to call the true democrats?

Is a gathering at the Istana for New year legal or not?
What then is lawful ? 5 and above are considered an illegal assembly. CNA has this to add: "The police noted that this latest incident is linked to another incident involving Chee.He had staged an unlawful assembly at the Myanmar embassy on 30 September". and "Authorities have reiterated the call to the public not to participate in any illegal gathering".
Now what is what ? If Singaporeans gather and express our concerns without placards etc in a non-gazetted area, it is lawful but at the same time unlawful because that will constitute an illegal assembly ?
I appreciate that the illegal assembly law is useful against people who may intend to create unrest/crime etc However, that is a very grey area even though the police exercises discretion case to case.
Its ridiculous for an act to be lawful and unlawful at the same time.[/b]
