I think we should elect our CDC ward councillors. After all, these people serve at the local government level, so we should have some say in it. Some of us are deprived of that chance in the General Elections, so I think we should have CDC elections too, albeit noncompulsory and done through the mail.
A side note, there is one China woman running for a position in the Perth City Council. Many local Chinese newspapers were running her ad.
we are a small country, dont waste time on this election
Well, it isn't fair to have PAP and its allies dominate the scene. I wouldn't mind having a mayor who is connected to WP or SDA.
This will be a cute one - a PAP Member of Parliament with a Constituency looked after by a Town Council of WP, SDA, or even by SDP.
Is it not bad enough as matters stand, when entire WP and SDA constituencies are starved off development funds by the PAP Government, even when the citizens of those constituencies pay their Direct and Indirect Taxes ?
The idea of having local elections to allow Citizen Participation in their own immediate environment was pushed by LKY, so as to DEFUSE the clamour from citizens for more direct political participation at a NATIONAL LEVEL.
This is the ambition of the ''Singapore Caesar'' in keeping power to himself, while diverting the attention of the citizens to mundane neighborhood issues.
