Propaganda - does it exist?

Hello folks,
I am just very humbly asking, as you may know better, if there is such a thing as propaganda ?
I mean , what does the MAJORITY think?
I like to believe there is zero propaganda, since dinosaur time and polis wore kakis. But I dunno and thus its a logical question.

SingaporeÂ’s judicial system scores well in international studies
SINGAPORE: SingaporeÂ’s judicial system has performed well in studies conducted by several reputable international organisations.

Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew touched on these ratings during a question—and—answer session on Sunday.
He was addressing some 3,500 lawyers from all over the world who have come to Singapore for the International Bar AssociationÂ’s conference.
A UK participant said his country is obsessed with league tables in several areas of public service and asked the minister mentor: "Where do you see Singapore in the league table on the rule of law?"
Mr Lee replied: "I am not prone to self—elevation. So I will leave others to judge where I am placed in the league of tables. But my secretary had anticipated such a question being put and so he had provided me with a batch of surveys on the Singapore judiciary and the legal system."
Among the surveys is one by the Hong Kong—based Political and Economic Risk Consultancy (PERC).
This year, it rated Singapore in the top three judicial systems in Asia, together with Hong Kong and Japan.
And in PERCÂ’s comparative risk report for this year, Singapore retained its ranking as the overall least risky country in Asia.
The PERC report also pointed out that Singapore and Hong Kong are the only two systems in Asia that have judiciaries which are rated on a par with those in developed Western societies.
There are three essential elements of judicial independence: the courts and individual judges are publicly perceived to be impartial in their decisions; the judicial decisions are accepted by the contesting parties and larger public; judges are perceived to be free from undue interference from other branches of government.
Singapore was also ranked tops in another report the World Bank Worldwide Governance Indicators.
This report covers six dimensions, including the rule of law.
And among nine Commonwealth countries, Singapore is ranked number three, after New Zealand and Canada.

Now some quarters believe that it is not true as the likes of JBJ and CSJ have lost against the government. They believe that the courts side the government.
If this is true then we do not have an independent judiciary and then piece of news is part propaganda. It seeks to influence you into thinking something that may not necessarily be true. -

Die Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP) beherrschte von 1933 bis 1945 unter der Führung Adolf Hitlers das Deutsche Reich. In dieser totalitären Diktatur gab es ein Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda (RMVP). Dieses Reichsministerium war unter der Leitung von Joseph Goebbels. Die Werbung war in diesem Zeitraum sehr militärisch. Sie befolgte die ideologischen Ziele des Nazis, wie man unschwer an der Wortwahl in manchen Reklametexten erkennen kann. Die Werbung für eine Kamera benutzt zum Beispiel den Ausdruck "scharfschießen". Es ist typisch für die Art der Propaganda dieser Zeit, solche militärische und soldatische Ausdrücke zu benutzen.
Die Werbung dieser Zeit setze mehr Zeichnungen und weniger Photographien ein, weil sie vermutlich so das idealisierte Bild der Arier deutlicher abbilden und manchmal unrealistische Informationen zeigen konnte. -

English Translation
The Third Reich refers to Germany during the period from 1933 to 1945, when it was governed by the Nazi Party with Adolf Hitler as Chancellor. Within this totalitarian dictatorship existed the Reich Ministry for Popular Enlightenment and Propaganda. It was headed by Dr. Joseph Goebbels and was responsible for regulating not only the press but also the arts, literature, music, theaters and the film industry.
The role of the Ministry, upon its enactment by Hitler, was described as follows: "The Minister for Popular Enlightenment and Propaganda is responsible for all tasks regarding national education, the propaganda of the state, culture and economy, the information and foreign publicity as well as the administration for discharging all these purposes."
Advertisements during this period generally carried an extremely militaristic intonation. They reflected the goals of the Nazis, which can be recognized easily by the usage of words in some advertisements texts. For example, a word such as “sharp shooting” was used on an advertisement for cameras. It was typical to use such militaristic expressions in such form of propaganda.
It is also noted that advertisements during this period appeared more in the form of pictures than photographic images. One possible reason is because through pictures, the Nazis could portray what they deemed as the "ideal Aryan". Of course, some of the information presented by the advertisements were clearly unrealistic and inaccurate. -

Now we have LKY showing the perc reports that the judiciary is independent, top 3 in Asia etc Chief Justice says that Multiculturalism is a fact for Singapore etc.
Both serves to subtly tell you that we have a reason for our ISA, why SDP cannot protest, why Chee Soon Juan cannot defame etc and when Chee Soon Juan goes to jail or gets fined etc, the judges are fair blah blah
So is it propaganda or is the press being impartial ? Are they telling the truth or witholding anything from you ? -
Even if it is true, it is still propaganda as as the press reports about the wonderful judiciary system we have and more often that not, it comes hand in hand with Singapore being a multicultural society blah blah blah..almost every year...It seeks to influence the masses, even though it might be true.
Notice if the press goes on the same topic, reiterating the same views for many days or even weeks.. -

People must not read the newspaper passively but to analyze the news especially if the worldÂ’s 146th ranked free press publishes it.
