What is the worth of an apology when the apology is elicited through the process of a Singapore Court ?
If this matter is of such importance and with the offending contents transmitted on the international stage, surely the injured parties should have the matter corrected with the assistance of the judiciary in the country of the offending publisher ?
As matters stand, the apology is nothing more then a 'pyrrhic victory' for the Singapore First Family, and to the Financial Times - the facts have been said, the apology at whatever price can never be punitive by the standards of the Financial Times.
What is the worth of the apology when the facts of the matter are as clear for everyone to see ? -
To be honest, I dont think the critism should be focused so much on Temasek's investment performance......
Some gain....some lose.....but honestly the cumulative overall performance has been quite good.....so...theres nothing to critisize there...
Besides, Im sure those decisions are taken by professionals.
So.....
What I find more amazing and amusing is, how in the world, the world's most powerful opinion makers, most powerful media groups, bend down and kneel down.....I find it a bit.....almost unbelievable....
I admire them, but not sure whether this is 'good' admiration or 'bad' admiration.

Dig dirt ? i don't know about that. How about they sever ties, cut trade and impose sanctions on us as well ? The only choice now is for WP to engage more talents and hopefully they gain more seats. -
I am not sure about WP and other opposition parties. These oppositions don't seem to be strong to the extent they can make any major changes. It'll take time and effort. I'm very impressed with Sylvia Lim on her assertion that Singaporeans can solve our own problems internally and we do not require external interference. The first thing Singaporeans need to do is to change their mindset. Clear out all conspiracy theories in their heads and think rationally. If you support WP vote WP and likewise for other parties. Do not think that your vote is being monitored and bad things will happen if you vote for the opposition etc.
WP has improved along the years under the stewardship of Low Thia Kiang. Today they have engaged professionals to join their ranks. It is a slow process but if Singaporeans change their mindsets, it'll probably fasten the pace.
If they can grow, they can take on more GRCs, SMCs whatever. If Singaporeans are truly fed up with PAP, perhaps then more seats will go to the opposition. As Sylvia said, respect the elections. -

What i'm highlighting is that the U.S president came out to sign the FTA with our prime minister and thats rare. Most likely its due to Singapore siding with U.S in the "war against terror" anyway. Dont under estamate the significants of the US-Singapore FTA and the F-15s, F-16, Apache USA sold to us. We are small, but we are not weak.

Look, nothing is really lost other than paper value. Criticism is bound to occur as even a paper loss of 2 billion is substantial. It won't be a loss eventually if we can recover that paper loss. So you make an investment, you buy from A and A takes the money. The value of your investment halves. What have you lost ? You lose if you try to sell your investment today, else your investment is still there. Question is, can you ever recover that value eventually. -
