In other words, it's about as bad as us.
While it's true that they've presented some facts, it doesn't mean that they have purposely omitted some facts.
And there are some things which is probably not true.

Even though the tribunal recommended a censure...tsk tsk....BAN Ki Moon !!Originally posted by googoomuck:Another UN scandal involving a Singaporean.
FOR nearly two years, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) had kept silent on an UN investigation on fraud and corruption involving a Singaporean UN employee, Andrew Toh.
UN Secretary-General finally takes disciplinary measure against U.N. staff member Andrew Toh, who has failed to properly declare his financial status and assets between 2004 and 2005.
Andrew Toh has been demoted and denied two months of his salary(is that a fine?).
He vowed: 'I will fight on.'

They can stoop even lower you know?Originally posted by qlqq9:The local press published articles that favour the PAP and down play the oppositions. Look at how dirty they can get, so pathetic to stoop so low to stay in power.
You should be pushing for a free press in Singapore instead of defending Lee Kuan yew.
And this is the way it should be. Rather than treating your local press as the Bible, approach it critically. Compare and contrast with how the same news is reported in other sources.
Yes, we should read foreign newspapers. Foreign press adopt more open views compare to our local press. To some extent our local media is not credible that is why I don't have 100% trust in their publications.Originally posted by Icemoon:They can stoop even lower you know?
Anyway LKY already gave tacit approval that we should read alternative sources for news. And he made it clear that we have access to them.

Hey .. don't say you dunno .. they teach this in secondary school history/SS you know? Those source-based questions.
So what is your point?Originally posted by norm:Myanmar, China, Russia are the worst when it comes to press freedom.
Aiya .. don't complain lah .. at least he allows you to read alternative sources of news.Originally posted by Poh Ah Pak:You should be pushing for a free press in Singapore instead of defending Lee Kuan yew.
Then you have to ask what is credibility lor. I think local press does a good job in reporting when and why GST will rise that kind of thing.Originally posted by qlqq9:Yes, we should read foreign newspapers. Credibility ? Hey, the local press only report the positive news of the PAP, anything negative cannot be found on the papers. This is partly why I said there is no credibility. As in the case of hike in GST, they came out with the article to say that shoppers and retailers not affected by the hike, this is a lie.Originally posted by Icemoon:Then you have to ask what is credibility lor. You can never have 100% trust in any press. (Edit: I remember learning about this in my media/comm studies - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agenda-setting_theory)![]()
