My generation has more tolerate for gays/lesbian. While my parent's generation have less. And my grandparent would must properly just want to in prison them on some deserted island.

So it is the same here..... when it is your Generation that is leading S'pore, your generation could then remove this law.

I belong to the 'older' generation who was brought up with the notion that a man must marry only a woman..... not to each other. As I grow older, I no longer see being gay/lesbian as morally wrong or sinful..... but I'm still pretty uncomfortable about it. Gays/Lesbian have as much right to live and be free as everyone else. I don't and wouldn't actively stop or condamn them for their lifestyle..... But I also don't want a "Pride Parade" to be held in S'pore too.
Should gay/lesbian be kept inside closet....

If anyone out there could find some proof that the govt send police into other ppls bedroom to enforce Section 377A, pls let me know. If not, I don't think keeping around an un-enforce law is too big a deal. My own view of course. -

Indeed the general public needs time to accept them. To this I agree. But why must there be a law in place which is not proactively enfore?? What is the point of that? To give yourself a sense of security or something?...

Certain people are brought up in families which strongly advocates traditional moral values. They will have a harder time to accept. Its just natural.
With regards to the minorities, I think that they are aware enough that they are living in a conservative society and one that advocates traditional values. I would guess that they will be sensible enough not to organize some form of parade as you said. Singaporeans would not be ready for that... -

This 377A is required and it is also justice; it is needed to deal with Male rape and the victim. Consenting or not very hard to define in court, the best is stop before it happened

I see what you mean about being uncomfortable, but note that this section is only on the penetration/act. basically the repealing would only have meaning for the pple int he privacy of their homes or rooms. repealing it does not allow them to commit the act in public or view of public. and repealing or not would not have implications on whether they can hug or kiss in public(the can do it now anyway) -

"udontknowme", I must say that this issue differs quite greatly from the GST hike thing. If the government were to just abolish the law like that, its reprecussions,including being out of power, will probably be very great. I believe that the Govt should make the people understand it rather than leave it in shades of grey while the minorities out there suffer.
The penal code on rape is labeled as "Outrage of Modesty" while this gay thing is "Outrage of DECENCY". Which means gay is not decent and people who are should refrain from commiting so. People are use to a no-gay society, the tranquility of the familiarity. That is probably one reason why people are having trouble accepting them. They are simplity not used to and ready. But it does not justify such a long wait over all these years of controlled freedom and violition. -

While your supposed "generation" takes TIME to realise the truth, there are people out there who are forced to live their lives the way others want them to. If someone came to your house and demanded that you change the colour of your living room just because the people outside can't stand to look at it, would you? Let me guess....with your concept, you should just close the windows to your house and suffocate inside till the people on the outside take their time to channnngeee their perception...

Section 377A is to punish two consenting adults. PM Lee personally guaranteed that " we don't proactively enforce Section 377A on them(Gays)."
