Sanctions or no sanctions, ultimately the people suffer. No sanction, life is hard. Sanction die of hunger but at least the Junta die together albeit at a much much much slower pace. Want to die, all democratically die together.

Like he support gay rights because of liberty, democracy.
I suspect he might support Jehovah Witnesses as well for their right to religion.
But to practice inequality is not democratic so he might be forces to scrap compulsory National Service and let you enlist by choice. All in the name of democracy.
He doesn't care about consequences i.e he is not a utilitarian, he is more a libertarian who only cares about liberty and very little else. For such a person, the outcome of Singaporeans do not matter as if we die, we had our liberty. -

I am not advocate to support military Junta.
But just curious does anyone know the historical conflict burma and understand the nature of conflict in Myanmar the humanitarin crisis in 48, 78 and 91 of the relocation, killing of muslim minority done throughout the country some of which way before military Junta ? the fight of Shan and Karen who most likely have support from European countries. and Mon who is ethnically tied to Khmer, Thai and the support of Parkistan for the islamic minority.
ethnic rivalry don't stop after an democratic elected gov took over especially those deep rooted conflict for decade. Look at East Timor we see that after 2005 pull out of UN and 2006 Australia find themselve back in. (Sg gov is still worried about racial riot)
I am curious too what does the british government say about it since they probably contribute to the problems and has an indept knowledge of each ethnic group.
Perharps international communities may considered redrawing the map of Myanmar into 3 to 4 autonomy states. -
he did not present himself clearly to the public what he stand for on his agenda. On the one hand he is pushing for greater civil right liberty movement in SG, but than he likes to stick it up to the gov. People get kinda of confuse not sure if he is running an opposing gov campaign or running a civil right movement or running a political party. It would take some maturity in his manuvoring to see result. -
I believe that the SDP needs to sort itself out on two fronts.
Chee has his civil rights advocacy, while the SDP as a party should be attempting to take these advocacy experiences and apply them into policy platforms in the language of the voters.
