I am sure everyone has the reason to hike their prices.
Thus , 1 cent hike in oil price does not mean just that.
To me, its an exponential hike overall.

SINGAPORE : Consumer prices in Singapore edged down 0.3 percent in September from the previous month.
The Department of Statistics says the change in the consumer price index (CPI) in the two months after July 2007 was similar to that in the months before.
This shows that there is no evidence so far of uptick in inflation for August and September after the one-off increase in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate in July.
The GST was increased to 7 percent from 5 percent on July 1st.
In September 2007, costs of transport & communication declined by 1.2 per cent as lower car prices and road tax more than offset dearer petrol.
Housing cost went down by 1.2 per cent due mainly to lower housing maintenance charges and cheaper household durables.
Reflecting cheaper ready-made garments and footwear, prices of clothing & footwear dipped by 0.9 per cent.
On the contrary, food prices increased by 0.4 per cent on account of dearer cooked food, fresh poultry, milk powder and fruits.
Compared with the same month a year ago, the consumer price index in September 2007 increased by 2.7 per cent. - CNA/ch
