You must be kidding me. SDP on their website and SDP supporters in Sammyboy have been attacking WP for the last few days.
Reason? For attacking them. Where? Sylvia Lim speech mentioned nothing about SDP. I sieved through all the blogs of WP members. There are about 10 of them. Melvin Tan, Peery Tong, Lilian Lee, Yaw Shin Leong etc. Zero mention of SDP. Nothing in any forum from WP members. They are not rankled by SDP attacks. Only see a lot of SDP supporters starting threads after threads attacking WP.
Let's get back to the issue. SDP was pissed off with WP for not supporting foreign interference. They haven't told Singaporeans how they can secure the help of foreigners to displace PAP (and install SDP as govt) without being beholden to them.
Look at Iraq and Afghanistan. US called the shots after replacing their govts. Their new system mirrored the US presidential system. Is the presidential system suitable for Singapore? -
SDP and WP should not quarrel with each other.
They should concentrate their activities against the PAP.
PAP is the common opponent.
WP is now too small and financially too weak a party to challenge the PAP ruling clique.
WP should
(1) Attract more talented people to join politics under the WP agenda.
(2) Get more financial resources in order to wage the next battle against the PAP in the GE.
(3) Remain popular with the majority of Singaporeans as a credible party.
SDP should
(1) Launch propaganda attacks against the PAP.
(2) Initiate programs to increase the political awareness of Singaporeans.
(3) Exploit any mistakes made by the PAP.
SDP, WP, NSP, DRP, SPP etc may disagree on small issues.
But in the larger battle against the PAP ruling clique, they must coordinate policies and work together.
They should not fall into a trap set by others to play off one party against the other.
Use SDP to attack against the WP etc.
This is no good for opposition politics. -

Political awareness and knowledge of Singaporeans must be increased, otherwise, most will blindly follow mainstream media propaganda and vote for PAP.
I hope that SDP will organise more public lectures to educate Singaporeans on this.

Lets face facts. SDP is a party which very very very very very very very few Singaporeans support. Look at Chee sitting alone for 5 days outside the Istana. How many Singaporeans give a hoot?
And then look at the WP. Look at their support - the whole Hougang field jam packed.
Sylvia did very well in saying we do not need outside interference - which is also the truth. Which country on earth needs outside interference, besides despotic regimes like Burma and African countries?
More importantly, notice that it is the people of Burma, the people of Darfur, the people of despotic regimes which called for UN and US help.
Then ask ourselves: Are Singaporeans calling or even think we need UN or US help?
Get real, SDP!

1. She understood what majority of Singaporeans don't want.
2. She distanced herself and the WP from the extremism of the SDP.
3. She articulated a sensible position.

It does not take a genius to see that Dr Chee Soo Juan is not looking for support from Singaporeans or even the international community.
He is only interested to expose the lack of freedoms in Singapore that translate into unfair and unfree elections which lead to the ruling party holding on to power under dishonorable, illicit means.
Dr Chee has taken the persecution upon himself, he has allowed himself to suffer the injustice. He has as far as anyone can see, done nothing wrong except contravene unjust laws.
These laws are there to keep dishonorable people in power and only someone as brilliant as Dr Chee will be able to challenge them and expose the people behind the laws for what they are, unjust, dishonorable and lacking in legitimacy and moral authority to rule.
I don't expect some Singaporeans to understand the high ideals that Dr Chee embodies. -

Do you seriously believe that the lack of Singaporean presence with Chee at the Istana is due to a lack of support for his politics; or is the lack of presence due to Singaporeans' fear of being tangled up by the MIW unethical methods in abusing the legal process to persecute any Singaporean so as to prevent legitimate expressions of grievances against the MIW Government ?
Is it not a common selfish feature of most Singaporean to play it safe, by allowing someone - who dare to speak openly and who is more articulate - to do so, rather then expose themselves to similar persecution.
After more then four decades of being subjected to the ruthless political methods employed by the POWER OF ONE in dealing with his detractors - whether from the legitimate bodies such as the social activist groups, political parties, trade unions, or even the religious organisations - Singaporeans have become more circumspect with open display of support to any political cause, even if it is for their own benefit.

Sylvia's statement has given legitimacy for the MIW to continue to bastardise the Singapore Constitution and abuse the Constitutional Rights of Singaporeans through continuous amendments that change the true spirit as intended in the original text of the Constitution.
Did Sylvia conduct any independent poll to obtain the political feelings of Singaporeans - who are politically concious, or did she simply expressed her own personal feelings on this subject ?
Did she seek the opinions of those Singaporeans who were political prisoners for more as long as 30 years, simply based on some very personal opinion of the POWER OF ONE - without any evidence produced, and continuously tormented by psychological pressures to submit themselves to admitting the false accusations, in exchange for release without any further political rights ?
Is Sylvia's position sensible when she will tow the MIW line of allowing Singapore to interfere in the internal politics of Myanmar, while refusing others to interfere in our own ?

The fact of the matter has been revealed even in the non-political support in the Mr Brown affair.
For the small number of Singaporeans that actually turned out in Brown T-shirts at City Hall MRT Station there was some nervous apprehension, which were soon proven by the police psychological intimidation in taking down all the names of everyone wearing a Brown T-Shirt and found loitering at the station.
The knee-jerk efforts of the Singapore Police is encouraged by their political masters in the MIW Government, and it is useless for the Ministers to state that the Police had over-reacted when the entire episode was made to look ridiculouos.
This method of intimidation has been made even for the White Elephant campaign at the completed Buangkok MRT Station that stayed closed for months after completion - ironically, that campaign was encouraged with the support of the MP from the MIW.

Even if it could not compare in size to the WP rally - which the WP had committed itself to the more densely populated central region of Singapore - there was at least a credible turnout of curious participants, many of whom walked away purchasing an SDP newletter, some even purchasing the books written by CSJ.
