you put your PSP at risk when you decided to take it out of your house. it could have been stolen, you could have dropped it, or misplaced it.
you were responsible for it when you took it to school.
sure the school might have lost it, but you were more responsible because you decided to take the risk of bringing it to school.
so, you only had yourself to blame. if your parents were any good, they wouldn't have faulted the school. sure, they might fault the person who stole the PSP from under the teacher's nose, but its not the school's fault for enforcing the school rules. -

they confiscated it because you brought something prohibited to school in the first place.
suing them and reporting to the police is way overboard because you were the one who initiated the whole thing.
you could talk to the school and ask them how can this be settled. of course i'm not asking you to do nothing. but suing and going to stomp and reporting police?
its so childish, and not to mention, its your own fault in the first place for testing the school system. -

They do have a responsibility to ensure that items in their charge are not misplaced or stolen as well.

first, they'd see if there was a criminal intention. if there's no criminal intention, they will tell you to make a civil suit if you want to.
if there was (and there wasn't), they will file it to CID to investigate, and its not easy to just ask CID to investigate ok. just suka suka ask them investigate your lost PSP?
if your school seem unapologetic, too bad for you, because you brought something prohibited to school mah.
you knew the rules, you chose to disobey, too bad right? who's to blame for you trying to test the school rules?
let me give you another example:
say, someone smuggle in pirated dvds into singapore, and got caught, and was confiscated, and the police accidentally broke 1 dvd. can you go and sue the police for losing the dvd?
i'm assuming you're doing this to threaten the school, then you're in trouble in the eyes of the law. -

its different. so that's why you are so eager to take the chance to "punish" the school and to humiliate them.
if you really felt sorry, you wouldn't have suggested stomping them, and going to the police hoping to pin a criminal intent on the school.

they "confiscate" and lose the things..worst to worst, they will put up a disclaimer at an obscure position and claim that you never seen it...who will believe you now? same thing like putting your bags on a baggage counter.. they will be have a disclaimer to free them from any legal obligations.. -
