This is just the gahman backup plan cos they do not think they are able to substantiate for the growing numbers of older people that were born in the baby boom period as well as their children, but not counting the generation after that, as we know that birth rates isn't that high anymore.
My parents are born in the era of the babyboom and there are encouraged to join in the "Stop at 2" policy. imagine last time my grandma's era, every household has more than 5 children.
and also understanding the current high standards of living which we are renowned for in the top 20 (correct me if i am wrong as i think i saw a newspaper article on this on Shin Ming or Wan Bao), the current children of these babyboom adults when their parents reach into their senior citizens state, they might not be able to support them or due to relationship issues.
And even maybe also judging from the "Liao" of new upcoming candidates who might be taking over, maybe even a panadol situation.

I can't deny that there are no people living till 90, but a very very extremely minute proportion will live till that age. If you have the prospect to live till 90, I am sure you would be wise enough to invest in some funds. It's not like you are left with nothing, you still have the CPF lump sum. If you don't have anything at 65, the government is not going to dish out the compulsory annuity scheme to you too. We are not a welfare state!!! What about those who have short lifespan in their family genes? They definitely don't want to subscribe to the compulsory annuity scheme because it will not benefit them at all.
I think people would have the basic intelligence and maturity at 65 to plan the way they want to live their life. They don't need PAPa or Mama to tell them how to plan their life. I stand corrected because there are some people out there who still rely on others to plan their life for them. Pathetic they be. -

There are only two options.
Actually, I am agreable with the annuity scheme, compulsory or otherwise, I disagree only with the drawdown age. It should be in the range of 65 to 67 (max 70).
Therefore, I vote I disagree.
If only there is a midway option. -
