Hi,
Is it a right for all eligible voters to vote in each election?
I understand that due to walkovers, many could not vote.
Should this be repealed? (correct me if I misused this word, thanks).
Sg is so tiny.
Why limit to just a tiny bunch (non-walkover wards / GRCs) of voters to decide the future of a democracy? Is sg not very tiny with very small population already? when it comes to awarding mandate, is it better to have more or tiny number of voters to award this?
Or why should there be voting in the 1st place?

I don't support the removing of the GRC system unless someone comes up with a better system of making sure that at least all the major races are in the Parliament.

Financial or manpower planning should be based on the assumption that it will be a full 84 seats election contests on a election year, CORRECT?
Walkover or not, every Singaporean must be given the rights to vote!
On election day, in walkover wards, citizens will vote in favor or against the standalone candidates to be their wards parliament representatives.
To prevent cheating or fraud, religious leaders will be appointed as witnesses to the whole election process and counting of votes in all walkover election and counting stations.
My proposal that winners of walkover wards must score at least 50% support votes, then they get to:
1. Keep drawing the full salary of a MP.
2. Be consider for a Cabinet post.
50% vote? Is this a fair %?
41% - 49.9% vote - draw only 80% of a MP salary, no Cabinet appointment.
31% - 40.9% vote - draw only 60% of a MP salary, no Cabinet appointment.
21% - 30.9% vote - draw only 40% of a MP salary, no Cabinet appointment.
20.9% and below - considered as NMP, drawing a NMP salary, obviously no Cabinet appointment.
Above example applicable to only walkover winners.
FAIR ENOUGH? -
Somehow this sounds like how a company is being managed. If this person has X% shares and owns the majority of the shares, he wins.
I don't think our Parliament or Cabinet should be managed this way. If they want to win, win it because people vote for them, not because X% is already secured. -

Why the need for so many GRCs such that so many more candidates is need for election? I am asking because I dunno.
If I am correct, sg is a city size. A small city in fact.
In small cities, do cities practise breaking up them into many small components such that more candidates need to be fielded? Again, I am in doubt.
What happens if large countries also have the same system?

The mother of all question, in my humble perspective, is should sg have 1 GRC to stand for election where even all the GRC candidates can stand together for election in a single GRC, what is the difference?
Same number of candidates, 1 or just a few GRCs. Same total number of voters, Same candidates. Everything the same except sg is divided into less GRCs. Last time no GRC ok, why now? Last time not as good good?

If 1 GRC, or no GRC for that matter, just a city election, would that not mean no walkovers and all eligible voters, age wise, can have the chance to vote?
