She is still a law lecturer now in TP. In fact, she left hurrily the day after the talk because she has to give a lecture. Busy women I must say.Originally posted by will4:I read her profile she used to be a cop n law lecturer before entering politics.
Yeah man...saw her on campus many times. Haha, she even has a WP flag at her desk, and an inflatable hammer too.lolOriginally posted by wisefool83:She is still a law lecturer now in TP. In fact, she left hurrily the day after the talk because she has to give a lecture. Busy women I must say.
erm, joined politics and kept her job. In fact TP removed their policy of barring staff from joining politics. They had however said that it was not for the sake of her.Originally posted by Otaku Traveler:Whoa.. Joining opposition party even though she has a government job?
Putting her career in jeopardy for sure.
Remember Dr Chee who was sacked from NUS shortly after joining SDA?
Actually, I don't think lecturing in TP is a government job, cause polys are autonomous or independent right? So their lecturers don't go tru MOE. Chee case, I think more likely to be the dean want to unkan bolla rather than he receive order lar. Cause NUS independent too. In fact both NUS and NTU invited quite a few people affiliated with the opposition to teach too. You try coming to my school, I tell you, some of my lecturers will make Atobe and Maurizo13 look like MIW supporter in comparison.Originally posted by Otaku Traveler:Whoa.. The last time LHL engaged an image consultant, he ended up showing that fake smile in almost every minute he appears on national TVOriginally posted by wisefool83:Hi, attended a talk given by Sylvia Lim, Chairwomen of WP in NTU yesterday. Just want to share my personal opinion of her based on it.
I think among the oppositions speech that I have attended so far, she is one of the more practical and witty one. However, I do feel that she is a bit of a slow warmer, as in the first ten minutes or so of her talk, she appears to be uneasy and is even a bit repelling in terms of her body language. But once the mingle starts and the setting becomes more informal, she becomes a lot more friendly and charismatic. I think this might let her down in election campaign because I feel that she is still unable to handle large formal crowds. And also, being a slow warmer, she might lose the precious first impression when she steps onto a stage. She might do better if she engage one of those image consultants that specialise in packaging politicians and teach them the "correct" body languages. Not sure if we have those in Singapore though.

Btw, you going for the talk on the 12th?
Last time when the chap from National War College came, I saw people from your side rush in like they had run a marathon 15 mins into the quorum.Originally posted by wisefool83:Suppose to be compulsory for people in my course, but the admin stuff up a bit cause they also put one of our classes on the same time.
Hell they are on the ball. The entire admin team consist of 2 girls and they pretty much work 24/7. And since they keep the attendence list of all of our participation in these seminars (we need to attend a minimum of at least 20 of them plus others in order to graduate), we pretty much treat them with more respect than we treat our lecturers.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Last time when the chap from National War College came, I saw people from your side rush in like they had run a marathon 15 mins into the quorum.
Hope your admin sorts itself out, cuz they've been quite on the ball when it came to liaising with external parties.![]()
