How can sg improve its quality of life?

Hi,
If Quality of Life is deemed as unsatisfactory,
how do you think sg can improve this aspect?
1st, of course, what are the causes?
2nd, is sg 1st world already? I heard someone saying today, he is trying to make sg 1st world. 'Try' means 'not yet', right? Or am i wrong?
If sg is so-called 1st world,
does Quality of Life form part of the Criteria?
Would anyone want to pursue a life of unsatisfactory Quality of Life for the sake of 1st world 'living'?

You control your own destiny. You can choose to lead a lazy lifestyle or fulfilling one, that's up to you. It got nothing to do with whether itz PAP or CSJ.
Be more pro-active on what you need to do.

I'd suggest that from now onwards, whatever we do should be for the benefit of your own family....don't even think of bothering to contribute to the country....so what if the country achieves 7-8% full year growth as what a member of a prominent family says....ist only for the benefit of the elite.....
Think for your wife and kids and parents first...then if you still have enuf energy left over, then you can pay lip service to the country -

Motorists concerned over new hike in ERP rates

SINGAPORE: Many motorists are unhappy about the increased Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) charges.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced another hike in ERP charges on Monday, including one that will cost motorists S$5.
This is the third time that ERP rates are being raised this year.
Drivers said they hope that with the recent increase in petrol prices, the raised charges could be delayed.
The biggest hike will hit those travelling on the Central Expressway (CTE), where rates will hit a high of S$5 after an increase of S$0.50.
Pao Kiew Tee, a motorist, said: "I don't think increasing the ERP is the way to control traffic. The traffic situation doesn't seem to improve. I think they must look at it more fundamentally, look from another point of view instead of increasing ERP."
Harry Soh, another motorist, said: "We are already financing a heavy petrol price right now so any increase in ERP, increases the burden of our so-called livelihood – we don't get a pay increment, but everything else is increasing!"
Some also have suggestions on how to ease the congestion on the roads.
"The COE should go higher, around S$80,000. The traffic is horrible, especially at the CTE and TPE. We must reduce the vehicle volume; there are just too many vehicles on the road," said Oh Boon Song, a taxi driver.
Janet Chee, another motorist, said: "If we can plan our route earlier or leave earlier, maybe it won't be so crowded. I don't know how we are going to expand the roads."
The ERP rate hike will be implemented on 5 November. -

I work without much stress because I'm not in debt..... I don't own a car or bike..... I don't even have a big screen LCD TV or HiFi. I live in a small 4 Room HDB flat I brought 8-9 yrs ago. And will stay not upgrade because I don't see the need in 'restarting' my loan...... Therefore, the RAT RACE is foregin to me... I know how bad the RAT RACE is.... thats why I live well within my means. Live simply and don't over spent. Don't try to own stuff just to show off. I take charge of my own lifestyle...... and is taking things easy.
Why oh why knowing S'pore's traffic cost and problems do S'poreans still wants to own a overly expensive car is really really beyond my understanding.....
