Green S'pore and anti-green attitudes

The govt wants to build a green and clean S'pore.In order to achiece a green S'pore,the govt should change the attiudes of the staff concerned of town councils and other govt bodies.I find many of them are anti-green instead of pro-green.Teach them how to plant appropriate shrubs,how to prune trees & shrubs,not to cut grass too short,and take a positive attitude towards residents who grow plant on public properties.

They will only do it if there is money to be made.
If not, they will chuck it to the private sector to do it.

Back to topic, between keeping things nice and environmentally friendly, people usually prefer the former. -

Environmentally friendly can still be beautiful.In fact,plant cut until so badly don't look good. -

being green isnt about nice looking shrubs and short grass. good looking plants do not contribute to being environmentally friendly. just having plants in are good enough. why waste time and effort to make it 'look good'?? see those trucks and stuff that people drive and park at the side of the road so that they can water the plants and prune them etc??? that's certainly NOT contributing to being environmentally friendly. unless of course, by 'green singapore' u mean 'singapore with lots of green plants that look beautiful'.
do u pple even recycle stuff in the first place...??
your orange peels, soft drink cans, used papers, plastic wraps all go into the same garbage bag. -
If you know the people here and the government... it's a matter of time before they complained that the plants have overgrown and ask for actions.
I don't really recycle... but more of re-using items... -

I feel that those grass cut aren't of much affect as they will grow back...
Whereas is they are left alone, they might grow to heights that will affect not the environment, but peoples around it... (And you know typical singaporeans love to complains ^^)
That's why, something must still be done to these grass...
Well i dunno much about other plant therefore wouldn't be giving comments too ^^

Maybe the type of grass we comonly plant can't grow very tall.The problem would be there might be other weed which can grow very high.If they do,they can be cut off.

I saw some rain trees on road sides.The keep pruning excessively.Some trees finally need to chop off.Pruning plant is a difficult knowlege!

Grass grow tall may look untidy.Of course there are weed growing tall too.Of course.it shouldn't too untidy.The authority concerned should strike a balance between pro-green and neat looking. -
Oh dear,one town council said some trees were chopped off most of the branches because mynah birds disturbed the sleeps of the residents.
Can't it calll pest company to trap the birds or call shooters to shoot them? -
I've found some grass in 2 HDB estates growing very long.Possibly the govt does listen and take action.I hope it would take action even more boldly.

I saw the ad for keeping environment clean and green. Now here are the ironics:
There is actually the said recycled bins in my estate. However, they have only been there for about one or two weeks before they DISAPPEARED.
I finally saw when it's gone to after at least one week. Apparently someone had pushed it to some ulu ulu place in the void-deck and it's almost spilling with items. It has remained like that since. Nobody has ever pushed it back to place, not to mention collect whatever's in it.
Hmm, so much for keeping it clean and green... If even the local authorities and town council doesn't show much interest in the green act, how do they expect the citizens' mindsets and habits to be positively influenced and changed?
