Singapore One of the LOWEST Education Level

I was reading my friend's text regarding singapore, she's studyin part time in NUS anyway. I saw this statement,
"Singapore has one of the lowest education level among the developed countries."
No wonder the education system now is starting to change. I think students are getting more stressed

I think you guys are commenting on the latest report that ranks Singapore 7th in terms of competitiveness but commented that one of the disadvantage that Singapore has is the relatively low level of educated workforce.

But then agn , my sister in canada tell me that the lowest range of salary for all jobs regardless of lvl be it sweeper or plumber is $1600 . While in sg ? There is no lowest lvl stated and employers are free to quote their lowest lvl of salary .

I think ST reported about this before... a few years back or just last year.
We have a great workforce, but surprisingly quite a good percentage has little or no education when compared with developed countries.
This is perhaps why the government made it compulsory for everyone to have at least 6 years of primary education so as to improve this statistics. -
Simply crap
Comparing with USA across their nation, on the average the majority (almost all) of our youngsters had proper education, the Americans had high number of sch-drop outs and they merely do nothing to enforce, esp in some sates.
This is such a one sided view.
But i ought to agree that the American universities are far doing better compared to our local 3 unis, but that doesn't mean Spore has low lvl of education. -

To get into a university in singapore is quite easy. All you need is a grade of C,C,D plus D7 in GP (even E8 for GP can get in).
And what's more, there are a lot of undergraduate in singapore who play all day long, just study few days before exams...in the end pass with a grade of C achieved quite easily. You need an average gpa of 2.0 (average C) to graduate, which is quite an easy thing to do. -

our education system is a screwed up 1 imo...

the system may be screwed in some ways, but it is up to those in the IHLs to get what they can out of it...
if the students there want to be spoonfed and do nothing about critical thinking, and regurgitate information without understanding, then they have failed themselves..
