He's probably disillusioned.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:Maybe since he had gotten away with half truths for so long, he thinks he can lie to anybody and get away with it.
Chee needs to be more stable and use his head more than other things before he garners enough support... he could well be right for some issues... but the way he presents them... I'm too scared.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:... if you want to live a less stressful life in Singapore... support Dr Chee Soon Juan... and do not listen to the lies anymore....

Seriously, do you think he has a choice, that he can do it any other way?Originally posted by heavenhell:Chee's Principles are okay but i dont like his execution.
I think he has a choice. Look at WP. WP may not be really good enough to topple PAP, but at least it's slow and steady.Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:Seriously, do you think he has a choice, that he can do it any other way?
I submit that, with such highly dishonorable despotic people in power, he has no choice...
you cannot eat the cake and still have it...
he still have the respect despite the character assisnation. but when he became an extremist and the removal of CST and destruction of SDP, that where he was deem dangerousOriginally posted by AndrewPKYap:Seriously, do you think he has a choice, that he can do it any other way?

It is very clear that there is a lack of transparency and party promoting policies and not just policies but laws in place for self-serving purposes.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:I think he has a choice. An old adage goes "Slow and steady wins the race."
Yes, it's slow, and maybe most of the posters here will not get to see WP win it in our lifetime. But things don't last, LKY can't change that, LHL can't change that, nobody can change that.
We gained our independence this way. While it wasn't really a long fight as compared to other countries, it's still a long enough fight.
SDP should sit down, take a cold hard look at all the policies, brainstorm together as a team, look at what's wrong, what's right, rather than blasting at about every issue that PAP brings up.
PAP, as we have seen, has the most power in Singapore. Chee can't beat them with his existing powers. He has to get another PAP member and secure a seat as an NMP and debate like what Sylvia Lim, Low Thia Kiang and Chiam See Tong is doing.
Use wits to beat PAP, show the people that he's sincere, not power. There's a limit to power, but not wits and sincerity. We are humans after all, we can be flexible and we can feel.
About the lowering of corporate taxes and increasing GST... I remembered someone commented that SG is being ran like some big company of sort, so it is logical that PAP lose from one source and gain from another...Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:It is very clear that there is a lack of transparency and party promoting policies and not just policies but laws in place for self-serving purposes.
If we have a vibrant opposition tolerant society, the despots will not be able to do what they like and that is take people's money for their self-serving ends. They will not be able to raise GST 2% and lower corporate taxes 2%.
In order for the opposition to do its job properly, they must be free to say what they want and not what the despots allow them to say.
How can anything change if no one can challenge the despots?
That is where Dr Chee comes in. He is there to effect change and expose how dishonorable and self-serving the despots are.
In order to do that, he has to do what he is doing now.
Not everyone can understand what he is doing and they think that he is mad for doing that.
If you think about it, think about what he is try to achieve, there is really no other way to do it but it comes at a great price to himself.
That shows that he is not mad but that his is self sacrificing.
Everyone seems to agree that his cause is honorable and just but not everyone is agreeable with his methods.
If you think about it, what he is trying to do, to expose the despotic nature of this regime, this is the only way. This is the only way open to him.
You cannot tell him to stop doing it unless you also say that his cause in not righteous and justs. He has no choice but to so this to achieve his just cause.
WP is on a different path. WP is trying to win elections. Dr Chee is trying to expose for the world to see, how despotic and self-serving the dishonorable dictators are at great costs to himself.

Yew told the minister that the land acquisition procedure for any developmental project is completed within two months and claims are taken in subsequent phases."Congestion taxes on vehicles plying on busy roads are a routine course of action in Singapore. obviously the last 2 sentence meant peak hours where we pay ERP.
just ask ourselves, even if u live serangoon and go into city using CTE. it is already more than 20minutues passing 3 or more gantry. is traffic any smoother? i live in jurong and travel to city for work. it take me average 45-1hr to reach my office using AYE via CTE. LKY, dont bullshit in India as they had alot themselves.
Its not about being skeptical of, its about reactions from the general populace, the demonstrations that will follow.Originally posted by lotus999:i think the indian minister is quite skeptical of him. didn't he keep insisting that sg model was not suitable for his country?
Adopt the Singapore model wholesale and you will get insurgencies, demonstrations and loss of political power.Originally posted by lotus999:i think the indian minister is quite skeptical of him. didn't he keep insisting that sg model was not suitable for his country?
Dr Chee makes life for WP easier.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:About the lowering of corporate taxes and increasing GST... I remembered someone commented that SG is being ran like some big company of sort, so it is logical that PAP lose from one source and gain from another...
I agree that the opposition should have the freedom to say what they want... but not to the extent one can talk without evidence... I believe Chee has learnt his lesson, I'm seeing better articles from SDP now, as compared to last time. If it was last time, I wouldn't care more.
And yes... his methods doesn't agree with everyone.
It's what I call shortcut... gaining international support to put pressure on us, hopefully with enough exposure, that the people will see some of the so called "good plans"...
WP is indeed on another path... but there still exists a same kind of pressure and scrutiny on PAP policies... what SDP doesn't spot, WP may spot and have a debate with PAP on it...
There's a chance that what WP said will be reported on the local papers... if according to ST propaganda that 80% reads ST... we can hope that at least half would have seen the articles...
