If not born to good family or have good strings to pull,
chialat liao. Even if degree holder, work long long hours, work till old old and then retire worrying if can foot the medical bills and worrying if after retire can still come out and find work.
Maintain very competitive salaries so as to increase the chance of being employed or getting re-employed after age 39.
Constant worry of being retrenched. Youth is valued over age. As old workers generally will be getting lower pay despite better experience.
Live and die in concrete jungle. At the same time, maintained 'cooperativeness'.
